Dvd Drive Not Accessable
« Reply #60 on: July 18, 2003, 12:41:00 AM »

Hello all, this is one of my first posts and I've been  along time lurker, so before I open my Mouth please spare me from your flames all you anti-explot and anti-n00b people, you really grip my shit.

As for everyone else, hello and thanks for all the great help I've read from you all.  My current setup is K5101 D490x, it boots to Evox using the Reloaded fonts, and Complex is available as an App.

As with all of you I too cannot read the DVD via FTP.  In Evox its a duplicate of C, in Complex it shows the Video_TS folder, and the yellow button fails to authenticate the drive.

I tried the Time fix by unplugging all night and booting with a game in, it went in to the infinate loop. (Easily fixed by putting a network cable in the xbox so it could find the smnp server and get the time).

I'm at a dead end now, has anyone found a surefire fix for reading DVD contents in evox or Complex using the font exploit?

Thanks in advance

I tried the same fix and thought that I had wrecked my XBox, but I left it for a while and it eventually booted into Evo-x.  It seems to take varying lengths of time to boot though.  I tried it last night and after 30 minutes it hadn't booted, so I tried replacing the game in the drive with 007 to try and boot that and sort it out, it then booted to Evo-x and I couldn't ftp the files I wanted off of the disc because I had swapped discs.  I tried it again this morning and it booted after about 30 seconds.

There has to be some kind of simple fix.  Someone mentioned this problem existed originally with mod chips, and was solved.  How was it solved?

I believe there already is a fix to the rebooting problem after leaving the box off overnight.  Hack the MS xboxdash by changing the XTF references to XFT, as described in the other thread.  Put it on C or E and have Evox set its clock from xboxdash.  I think this solves the problem.

Thats how my box is setup, and it does not work.  Plus I don't want to leave my box off for 6 hours when i want to backup a game.

There was an issue with Evox in the first few releases about the d drive showing up as the same as the c drive.  The reason for this is when an .xbe file is executed by a particular dash that dash mounts the folder that that .xbe file is in to the D.

This was resolved later by evox writing in there code to "unmount" the D drive once evox was booted.  Same thing goes for anyone that is running a version of complex or evox for that matter that see's the same thing on the C Drive as the D Drive.  Its mounting the .xbe and the folder content to D.

Complex fixed this by adding the Y button refresh in there dash.  Which was nice BUT since you have to have an actual xbox game authenticate (similar to vob unlocking in dvd movies) to read the content ver 1.0 of complex really didnt help much on any model other than the 4034 due to the fact that in order to unlock the media / drive they have to make a dll call to the 4034.dll file which in turn calls the bios to spin the drive and do the hashing it needs to unlock the dvd content.

Now since the MOD3.dll is different when trying to use the complex ver 1.0 it will refresh the TOC of any media that doesnt need unlocked.... but media that is locked it just basicly ignores.  Thats why when you hit Y with the xbox game in the drive it doesnt look like it did anything and you still see the VIDEO_TS folder.

Now since the MOD3.dll is differnent when trying to use the complex ver 1.1 dash it will refresh the TOC of any media that doesnt need unlocking since thats just a very easy call made, but the media that it locks it attempts to make the bios call to call the hashing procedure in the bios and it yacks cause the bios hash is different from 4034 to 4817.

This is why I don't think were going to really ever have a solid way around this till complex updates there code for the newer bios's.

Using Pheonix loader, DVD drive is now accessable via FTP and BoXplorer.

Furthermore, load up Kraken's Dash from Evox, and Movie DVD's now work flawlessly!

Remote control works just fine, with all buttons and no reset.

EVEN better, X2 IGR now returns you to the EVOX dash from the DVD movie. What more could we ask for?

Of course, turning on XBOX with the movie in the drive will still give you a jacked remote control.

I am exstatic here!

Only question is that still ominous clock reset problem. But now that everything else works great, I am willing to test the clock more thouroughly.

K: 1.00.4817

Alright guys...first post but heres my situation... I did the font loader mod yesterday following Mad_Gouki's tutorial (http://www.sbeyer.ne...ouki/part1.html) and now boot evoX flawlessly.  I can run XBMP, xSnesX, Nester X, etc., and even fixed the MS Dashboard using the hex editor, but the only way to launch a game is by booting with it in the drive... even if I go to the MS Dashboard from within evoX, I still get a black screen of death when trying to boot a disc.  I've disabled all auto run in evoX, but still when i put the disc in it boots and the system crashes.  Any ideas? Otherwise this mod has worked perfectly...oh, it should be noted, I can't launch DVD movies in XBMP without crashing also...it seems that once evoX has launched, the D: drive is unusable.  Any help would be greatly appreciated
