QUOTE (Anusko @ Jul 8 2003, 03:50 PM)
I made some tests and I conclude that it's impossible to make backups. But it's strange, because i can play divx from a cdrw in xbmp. i've tried xcommander, boxplorer, hd loader, evox ftp, xbmp ftp and complex loader ftp and or i get a mirror of my c drive or i get a video_ts folder.
There are ppl saying that is possible to make backups, so please someone write a little tutorial about how to do it. I have my xbox modded, so I'm only making this tests/asking for help for the good of the scene smile.gif keep the good work ppl!

I followed the K-Naledge guide that is stickied.  After that I installed Xcommander and I am able to use it to transfer games from my dvd-rom to my computer.  FTP only shows a clone of the C drive.  I haven't experienced the video_ts syndrome.

some more tests, and it works.
when i use the original font hack it's impossible to make a backup from the dvd but with the modified font hack, released by The Pheonix Project I can access to my dvd drive without any problem. The only thing that sux in this modified hack is the reboot on eject problem... hope the work on this.

Once it does that, and an alternative to the MSDASH is found, and IGR work, and a LOADER is incorporated into EVOX, and there is a way to safeguard against new games changing the DASH on us, there will be a very strong argument for this as a viable alternative to a mod chip.

and when it works on all kernels, and the Time problem is fixed (when you leave your xbox off for more than 24 hours), then it will stand up against chips

Interesting...

I have the pheonix PJ fonts installed...

Xcommander just gives me the VIDEO_TS thing.

This must be either XBOX version or kernal specific.

Although, I still don't quite believe that you can do it on yours until I see it. smile.gif

I have tried three xbox's now, 2 V1.1 and 1 V1.0

Can anyone else verfiy that XCOMMANDER will show the drive?

If so, what version of the fonts are you using?

Thanks

The DVD drive reading thing is a bug. So that'll be squashed.

And for those that have to "boot with the game inside the drive" to get anything to load, well that's just not entirely necessary. You need to add an item to the main list called "Launch DVD" or "Happy Happy American Fun Time Disco Disco Dance" (whatever floats your boat) and add some code to it. (I'll post it here when I find it. Which will be in like two minutes).

I've got the Bert/Ernie hack on a K:4034 D:4034 system, 120G Samsung drive (locked of course) this is what I find:

When I press the power button it SOMETIMES takes exactly 3 times to boot to EvoX.  By that I mean I press power, I see the X - M$, the screen flashes, I see the X - M$, the screen flashes differently (wierd colors, screen out of center), it sits there for about 5 seconds, and finally I see the EvoX.

Also, SOMETIMES when I put a game in to the DVD player, it doesn't boot to it, but goes right to EvoX.  I do this with the power off, put the disk in, power up.

Right now I am backing up my Halo using Pxx HDD Loader, the first time I tried HDD Loader didn't see anything in the drive.

My conclusion is that the exploit is extreamly buggy and in the alpha phase, use at your own risk.

Using the 'bert is cheating on ernie' exploit i can view the D: drive completly in xcommander, but not when ftping into it, which is fine by me.. Also i left it plugged out and the time reset, but it still works fine..

Snufleufagus...

What exactly is he for?  I replaced my original BURT with SNUFLE, and now the XBOX just resets repeatedly.

Going back to earnie for now.

The question is why do some work and others dont? Maybe its just random, sometimes it will work, sometimes it wont!

That's been my experiance.  Some times it works, sometimes it doesn't.  And that's on the same box.

It might work on your box, but not on everyone's.  I tried the Cheating on Ernie files with XCommander and I still get the VIDEO_TS problem.  In fact, none of the apps that I have tried have worked.  Even more confusing is the fact that my kernel and dashboard versions are exactly the same as the other poster who has it working.

If people have everything the same(dashboard and kernel) then I would take a look at the evox.ini

See what is going on there.  I modified an ini to my liking before putting it on my xbox and XCommander worked for me.
