Dvd Drive Not Accessable
« on: July 07, 2003, 01:27:00 PM »

This hack is great, but does not as of yet allow backing up your own games.

As soon as you apply it, you can no longer access the D drive to backup your games, neither with BOXPLORER or the like, or with FTP.  It now just looks like putting the XBOX game into the DVD drive of your PC.

Maybe this is version specific, but it IS that way on both V 1.0 and 1.1 that I have tried.

EDIT:  Thanks for pinning this.  Lets get to the bottom of it!

Yep, I had the same problem with D just being C.

However, I was able to play a DivX movie from CDR (I have a Samsung), when using the BICOErnie hack, using XBMP 2.4.

But via FTP, the problem was there. I didn't try xbcopy or anything like that so I can't confirm.

launching into Avalaunch will give you the ability to see what's on D: and then ftp into your computer.
Boxplorer or the new xbcopy sees D: as well. Evox seems to have a problem seeing the D: drive.

Negative.

You are missing the point.  They all SEE the DVD drive, and you can access it...

The point is, when you look at what is on the DVD, all you see is VIDEO_TS, as if you were reading a DVD on a PC drive.  You cannot access the full game.

Xcommander does not fix this.

As of now, there is no way around it.

Font hack allows the PLAYING of backups, but does not allow CREATING backups as of yet.

Once it does that, and an alternative to the MSDASH is found, and IGR work, and a LOADER is incorporated into EVOX, and there is a way to safeguard against new games changing the DASH on us, there will be a very strong argument for this as a viable alternative to a mod chip.

Incorrect.  Using Bert and Ernie, I have access to all the drives but the D drive is just a mirror of the C drive when I ftp in.

I loaded up Xcommander and it saw the D drive correctly and I transfered the game over the network.

I know!  Buy a modchip!

How about STFU!!!!  This same bullshit happened when the Matrix modchip got released.

All the hardcore modders were like.  Man this sucks.  I am not leet anymore, any jackass can mod their xbox now.  Get over your small penis and live with it.

If you don't like the exploit then don't use it and stay out of this part of the forums.

LOL, you STFU newbie. You're talking like you know your shit when in actual fact you know fuck all of whats what. Keep your mouth shut and stop trying to insite flame wars, you'll find yourself banned real fast if you keep it up.

And akula169, dont be trying to start shit there really is no need for it. Let them think theyre the dogs bollox for now, but you'll be laughing once this exploit is fixed, just sit back, read their little posts of how cool this exploit is, then piss your pants laughing at them in a months time when its all over and they have to keep restoring an old backup of the dash they made everytime they want to use this exploit tongue.gif

Just calm down people, no need for this childish crap.  beerchug.gif

tongue.gif  its more the attitude and how you can come accross (atleast how i see you comming across) as trying to start fights and stir shit up, thats what'll get you banned. If someone flames you by all means rip shit out of them, thats what i do, and if theyre exceptionally retarded have abit of a dig too, nothing to major though. But dont be seen as trying to start trouble.

Basicaly....to all those who keep sayin , "shutup you noob", the main thing is if you cant help someone then dont bother posting just to say "noob" etc

...i mean make the thread and ask the question...if its been covered already, then tell them where it has been (if you know)and if you dont the dont bother posting at all.

Well part of the problem with newbies is they forget to do  search.  I searched for about 5-10 minutes looking for a fix for the font exploit and the dvd-rom issue.  I couldn't find any answer so I posted in this thread.

This is a somwhat new section so not all the questions have been asked but I have already seen a lot of the same questions about 10 times that could easily be found if the person did the time to perform a search.

I know that personally, I don't want to waste anyone else's time on a question that has already been answered previously so I try searching first.

That is just good forum etiquette.
