No the xbox-linux guys reported that if you have a broken hack on
the hd you are not able to recover once the clock died.

The phoenix release will simply no longer work when the clock dies.

FreeX release will work and work and work...

If this means anything... way way back when I installed my Xtender chip, I had noticed that afterwards the xbox NEVER booted to the clock screen if left unplugged. It would just boot with incorrect date/time.

I know this would screw me up if I left the xbox unplugged for long time and then played a game like morrowind, which uses the date as index for savegames!

here is a question..

if you use the Complex v1.00 Loader-FX  release as your loader...will this happen??

or is it only the phoenix release that does it?

say you did a hotswap with the drive on the pc first and had a backup of the disc, you could just restore from that right?  since the tsop/bios isn't necessarily flashed?

If that backup drive is locked, you can use it.

But in the endless loop, retail games don't boot; so how would you load the game?

Really? I haven't tried DVD's yet.

I can imagine how it would affect that though.

You could use DVDX2 or something and use a controller.

It sucks to lose the use of the remote though, I agree.
