Plain English Free-x/evox Tutorial
« Reply #120 on: July 16, 2003, 05:35:00 AM »

ernie n bert both have to b renamed so theres no question about whether to rename this or that...
read the nfo...

i have fuckt my xbox/xboxbook when i tried to config the mediaplayer

ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND FLASH_FXP_SETTINGS NOT TO HAVE SET ON AUTO_RESUME!!!

i have recovered that installation but i get err16 now..
dashboard timer or so...

thats due to the fact that i have installed the orginal ernie n bert ..
will the problem b solved if i use 'enb reloaded' ?
[does this 'reloaded' version work at all?]

and- will i b able to config the evox.ini so i can use Px_HDD_Loader_V1.2 with the ernie n bert ?!
thx in advance

Do you HAVE to have kernal 4034 to do the 007 save trick?

Also, do you also HAVE TO flash your Xbox at some point in order to get Evolution X running on it?

If so shouldn't the flashing part be in the tutorial at the end before rebooting your Xbox?

ok i did the whole thing and evo-X now boots up without 007...
However, my eject button keeps flashing green-yelow-red while evo-x runs. Offcourse ive never modded an xbox or run evo-x so for all i know it could be normal...
when i run an xbox game it runs normally and the leds just green...
when i boot evo-x using 007 i dont get any weird flashing, when i boot it straight from the hd i do.
So, did i do something wrong?

Is there any way to get a 3944 Bios to 4034 without the use of a modchip? I have an original XBoX, and I was hoping there was some way to get this exploit to work anyway...

Thanks,
Alamei

@K-Naledge

Buddy, I have a question for you that you might be able to answer for me.  I already have a un-modded xbox with evox running on it but I did not use any exploits to get Evox running. Will the Xbox with Evox running on it play dvd-r backups or will I have to install some other software ?

K-Nal.. do you have any idea why the exploit won't work for me?

I try to run the Evox installer (load the save game in Agent Under Fire) but I receive an error.. "Unable to load saved mission."

What could be wrong?

Just as a QUICK reply to some questions,

Currently I am without PC until I move to Florida (which will be on the 26th of July). I should have a PC by that following week (first week in August, roughly).

I am keeping myself as up to date as possible and unfortunately, have yet to try any of the newer versions of the xploits.

Rest assured, I am keeping track (and literally writing down every question I get via e-mail, etc. on the forums and otherwise) so I can do a MASSIVE overhaul of the tutorial to comply with all the newer type questions based off of newer software exploits.

Thanks everyone so much for the support!

As a side note, I see some people are just having issues getting this stuff to even load.

Make SURE you have the 4034 Kernal (not BIOS... that isn't touched in this tutorial... YET wink.gif ) and make sure you have an configured all the EvoX files appropriately (naming them, etc.) All of these things are touched upon in my tutorial. smile.gif

Please don't feel like I've given up on this thread. I'm not the type to get people going on something, and then just leave them to their own devices. I will help as much as possible w/o my PC. But rest assured, this thread will be back with a vengeance tongue.gif

Thanks again!

K-Naledge

P.S. Please feel free to e-mail me with ANY and ALL questions you may have if they have not been touched upon yet in the posts by other members in this thread. Also, feel free to post in this thread as well, don;t worry about bloating the post count.. this isn't a "closed" topic tutorial wink.gif

See ya soon!

Here is a way to add the f: drive if you dont have it!
Just place this in your evox.ini file then remove it after you have used it.
You will need to comment out the current root section by placing a # at the beginning of every line (i.e.)
-----------------------------------------
#Section "Root"
#{
#   Section "Launch Menu"
#   {
#       Section "Games"
#      {
#         AutoAddItem "f:games"
------------------------------------------
then add this to the ini file after the final #}
------------------------------------------
Section "Root"
{
Item "MS Dashboard",ID_MS_Dash
Item "Reboot",ID_Quick_Reboot
Item "Power Off",ID_Power_Off
Item "Format F:",@210

}

[Action_10]

Info "Format F"
Warning "This will format F"
Progress "Formatting F"
#
# This will format F:
#
Format f:
------------------------------------
That should give you the extra 2GB on your 10GB drive!
Just remember to delete the # marks on the old Root section and delete all the new stuff you just pasted after you reboot and run with the edited ini file.

Hope this makes sence! This also works with modchips with any size harddrive in them so if you do do a harddrive swap and you have just ghosted the origonal drive. You can always use this to make your F: drive.
