yes once you have done it you can run linux or whatever else you want.

Ive no idea if it will let you use backups on Live, I imagine if it does it wont be for long, and I couldnt tell you what the advantage to running Linux is.

ok so free-x are the ones who create the files that you have to put on a memory card and install it to your xbox right?

ok so where does loader comes in at?

what does that do that free-x doesnt?

The loader is just your backdoor to get onto teh xbox hard-drive. Then you put the free-X files in the font directory where they will be executed from, disabling hte security checks.

Free-X released the exploit ... this is the 2 font files that need to be uploaded to the xbox, this is what lets you load the following with a mod.

Loader is the dashboard that lets you boot DVDR and any utils/games stored on your xbox.

ok so when i use the mega-x to install free-x on my xbox to run linux
i use loader to install a dashboard that allows me to run backups and other neat stuff is this right?

ok now i finally understand how to install free-x is installing loader the same thing or the same way using the mega-x memory card just with different files
you guys have been very helpful

install the freex fonts to c:fonts and then place all the loader on the c:

Question:
Once you use the loader my impression is that is install EvoX 2.2 yes?
Is this a temp install as in if i turn off my xbox and turn it back on it reverts back to the retail dash? And you need run the loader again?

Or does the evo-X dashboard STAY on the system? (given no other outside source modifis such as FTP or online etc)

Is it safe to assume that, besides back-upped games on the harddrive, can you also play import games? Everyone seems so concerned about more than this that they just don't say anything about that.

That's all I wanna mod my X-Box for: import games. I have no interest in anything else.

it will stay on the system

you have a choice between loader or evox ... At the moment loader is the better option, but I think at this time it may only work on older xboxes. Try loader first if it doesnt work switch to Evox

I imagine import games will work with loader, I know for import movies you can just run DVDx2 from loader or evox.

so that i can run linux all the time
then install loader to run back-ups and shit
damn its not that hard but it sounded like trying to build a space shuttle before you guys explained

forget about linux.

use the 007 trick, install the free-x font files (bert and ernie) and install loader to the c: which will let you load whatever you want ... including linux

I can just install the Free-xEvoX as opposed to the Loader right?..since Loader may not even work with newer xboxs to begin with
