the only rental shop around here hates me... so i'm stuck basically... Unless theres somewhere i can download the 4920 dashboard, i'm going to put my xbox hard drive in my computer so theres no problem copying it over..

Do you have any game that has the Xbox Live updater? A lot of them do.

Why would you do this? You cant put your XboX hd in your PC to transfer files, you have to have EvoX installed on the XboX hd and then ftp into it.

I dont understand why people do this. You can put your xbox hard drive in your computer to transfer files...

it wouldnt show up anything on your computer though, I think.

Well, you can get drivers for the Xbox hard disk.

But IMO, if you're going to open up the box, you may as well solder the two small and easy points, and flash your TSOP instead. Not that I'm a fan of TSOP flashing...

theres alot you need to do, you need to load evox with 007 or HD swap, then you need to use !loader(which only works with soem 1.0 wioth updated dashboards) to install evox. then use a stadred tutorial for ftp.

its far more complicated than something id want to type up here.  Search around there have been tutorials written for this already.  In essence you need  linux on a spare pc that the xbox drive will hook up to and the linux kernel has to have fatx support compiled in.  Then from there you can just mount it like any harddrive and cp the files over.  This is by no means meant to help anyone here considering i left out 99% of what you need to do.  Its just to show this shouldn't be down by anyone without some prior knowlege of linux.

i already read about linux procedure, i can use my other comp that has linux but have you tried this with windows pc?

it wont work with windows.  the reason it works with linux is because linux searches for IDE drives itself, it doesnt listen to the BIOS like windows does.  This is needed since the harddrive is connected after the bios loads (the harddrive swap trick).
