Quick How-to To Run Any Homebrew Stuff With Free-x
« on: July 05, 2003, 04:52:00 AM »

Rename on C the original files :
(added by XanTium: on old dashboards these files are on c:/ , on newer dashboard they are on c:/fonts/)
--------------------------------
Xbox.xtf -> Xbox.xtf.backup
XBox Book.xtf -> XBox Book.xtf.backup
(added by XanTium: upload the bert.xtf and ernie.xtf from the free-x exploit release to c:/ on old dashboards or c:/fonts/ on newer dashboards)

Now upload the Free-X Evox
--------------------------
all the original content and leave it named
to default.xbe, and yes it has to be on /C (C:)
Make sure your evox.ini is setup properly with
the IP and such.

Installing Games or Apps
------------------------
As you should have configured your evox.ini
You CANNOT for now use Drive F.
use xbedump.exe to sign any program/game before
uploading it. (remember there been a media check
too so apply that first if the game u want to play
is protected)

xbedump default.xbe -font

Needs to be ran from CMD/DOS Prompt, dont try
clickin on it, it wont do anything.

Then reboot your machine, evox should start and
select the program or game you wanted, you can
anytime edit evox.ini aswell.

Downloads:
Grab the Xploit and Free-X Evox at xbins
and the xbe dumper from http://www.internalreality.com/

Hope this will make people ask less stupid questions.

I didn't test if it works from DVD-Rom Drive as i got
a nice X2 Modchip smile.gif

I can verify that this works. Just played a round of Quake2x on my v1.1 box with the chip deactivated. smile.gif
BTW, original dashboard. I'm not sure which version it is, but it's not upgraded with Live or anything.

Try off cd-rw please...heres what to do, install boxplorer VIA ftp then burn doom-x with the default.xbe having been modified to work as a .iso file.
Then boot up xbox, load evo-x. Insert the disk with doom on. Open boxplorer, navigate to D: and launch the default.xbe please!

Just to clarify, once you reboot to evox, is the f drive then accessable?

Sorry, went back to normal already.. It was just a quick test to see if it worked. I'd like to get it on my brother's unmodded box though (as a temporary solution until his chip arrives) but I don't have a memory card or anything. Tried swapping the IDE cables from my hdd to his but didn't work, so I've kinda given up. If anyone has any ideas though please share smile.gif

Nope. Recognizing Drive F is a BIOS feature, requires BIOS support.

And WTF is your issue with making this work on Live! For crying out loud, you're the main reason why people like you should be off limits to XBL.

I have one more. Is this possible on an unmoded Xbox?  How do I copy and move files around?

I hope this is the last one question of this type.

Yes, it is very possible on an unmodded Xbox. In fact, it's the very essence of this whole thing.

To copy files in an unmodded/unopenned Xbox, you'd use the 007/MechAssault hack.

To copy files in an unmodded but openned Xbox, you'd use Linux or FatX Driver with a PC doing the HD hotswap.

'Nuff said! dry.gif
