Boot Dashboard Off A Cd?

Is it possible to burn the original dashboard to a cd/dvd and have that boot on an unmodded xbox?

If this was possible it would elminate the need for the HD Swap or 007/Mechassault hack to get Linux booting.
It would also avoid the problem of MS updating the dashboard for those that also play on Live.

Anyone tried this? (I would, but my box is modded w/ no external switch)
