Underthebridge, I think its more about what you are turning your hardware into..

Imagine you have a Dodge Aries..

You could paint it pink if you wanted and nobody would care..

but if you attached spikes, knives and spinning saw blades all over it I think the police would want to have a talk with you.. you could argue that you never use it to kill anyone, the fact that you had turned it into a killing machine would end in you at least being banned from using it on public highways.

but if you install a mod chip which allows you to create pirate copies of copyrighted software I think that M$'s lawyers might want to have a talk with you.. Sure, you only use it for XBMP and emulation and never steal anyones property. (although many of the xbox utilities illegally use the M$ Xbox SDK) The fact that it is now a stealing machine may end in you at least being banned from XBox Live.

If you want to use your XBox for a boat anchor or a door stop or take it all apart and hang the components on your xmas tree nobody will care... its only when you transform it into a device whos primary purpose is conducting illegal activity that people will start to tell you what not to do with your property.

I am not telling anyone what to do with their property.. but I understand why the potential victims of illegal activity would try to protect themselves by doing so.

as to my knowledge this is the only way to actually impliment the exploit .. ? (and of course 1 or 2 other games)

Yeah, we all know no games get released on the PC, since it's easy to copy them without the use of a modchip.

And we all know no game sget released for Playstation since ppl use a modchip to play pirate games.

If Piracy would kill the games-business, why didn't they stop releasing games after the C=64, the most pirated computer of it's time?
