Updating A Really Old Dashboard?
« on: May 20, 2013, 04:54:00 AM »

It sounds to me as if you should get hold of Hexen (Heimdall's Xbox Engineering disc). It's been, for some time, the recommended tool set here for all modded Xboxes. It will update your softmod to the latest most stable, protected Shadow C version, install your dash of choice and is, by all accounts, newbie friendly.

As long as your disc drive, existing softmod or chip are functioning OK you should have no trouble if you burn Hexen at slow speed to DVD-R. The various Xbox disc drive makes can be very picky about media type but DVD-R is universally compatible.

Sorry to bump a old thread but I am thinking similar, for one I have a xbox I did 2 years ago that I want the latest XBMC on and a crystal xbox I just bought which I want to softmod then upgrade to latest XBMC

I am just a little worried about overwriting the wrong files, so if I boot Hexen disc does it just ask you for the newer files or just lets you ftp over the new files?
