Putting A Permanent Bios On The X-chip
« on: October 09, 2004, 06:54:00 PM »

I have the Bios and Dashboard that i want installed on my box, but for some reason i have to leave my computer and xbox linked through usb or my bios doesn't work.  It works fine if my computer is on and USB hooked up but doesn't work when i disconnect the USB.  If anyone could tell me how to get the bios on the X-Chip permanently that would be great or direct me to a tutorial.  Help me please

It sounds like you're not getting power from your xbox to your xchip -- The usb cable from your computer gives the chip power.  You should ensure all of your LPC points -- Try cleaning them with alcohol.  If you had to remove solder from the holes you may have broken a trace.  There's a faq on xbox-scene about checking your lpc's with a multimeter -- I'd try this after checking your connections.

If it is your bios that is not storing on the xchip then you may need to look into an RMA.  Best of luck.

Yeah it does sound like you are not getting power from your xbox to your chip
another thing you could do is check your ground is connecting properly, if theres any doubts you could solder a cround wire and a power wire directly to the points on the outside edge of your chip theres three point you are able to solder to safely if you need to ground, 5v and D0
