X-chip Troubleshooting
« on: October 07, 2004, 10:15:00 PM »

ok so i just got a solderless x-chip.  I installed it perfectly according to the installation guide.  now when i try to turn on the box to see if it worked right, the xbox turns on and then in a split second turns itself off.   The wierd thing is that the xbox light doesnt turn on... but the little LED light on the x-chip does for a split second but nothin on the box.

so at this point im thinkin the chip isnt on right.  I fiddle with it for a bit, no changes.  So i tried takin the chip off and hookin the box up normally... still same problem

did i damage my xbox? what could be wrong with the hardware?
i am a newb to this scene so any help will be greatly appreciated

Does your LPC port have holes? If so did you installed the supplied rivits.

What you are describing the on/off reboot is called fragging , which is caused by not alligned or connected secure to LPC port.

Also, verify your D0 connection.

also..
if you took your xchip off and left the solderless adaptor on, and it still does the same the thing, its your d0 wire (most likly) or your connection to your motherboard is not probley alligned.
