A Quick Question About Softmodding
« on: February 03, 2020, 05:19:00 AM »

Hi all, I just have a couple of Q's:

1-What's the newest way to softmod my xbox1? I can mod using splinter cell but can I just use an ethernet cable instead?

2-In this link there's a tutorial how to softmod using a USB thumbdrive, but It doesn't say how to know which one would work? The link to the compatibility list is broken BTW..

I use splintercell. and i modified a controller so the memory card slot accepts USB devices.
I find that a SD card reader and a SD card (1gb) pluged in to the usb port on my controller works just fine.
Some of my usb pen drives will not work (memorex travel mate 1gb dont want to work)

You can't do it via ethernet cable. but you can simply buy a xbox usb adapter if you prefer to do that rather than use action replay or modify a controller..
There is also the option to hotswap but i dont like hotswaping..

Your main priority if you have splinter cel;l is to simply get the save game exploit on to your Xbox, and imo USB cable or Controller mod to accept usb is the best way to do that.

It's been said many times here that finding a working USB flash drive is a lottery. Even recommending a particular make and model isn't a guarantee because they can be manufactured with different slightly components at different times or if they originate from different factories.

Older USB 1.0 and 1.1 ones seem to be the most likely to work but there are definitely 2.0 versions that do too, although I've yet to find one which works perfectly 100% of the time.

But the simplest and likely most trouble free way of getting the SC game-saves onto your Xbox HDD is surely just using a proper Xbox memory card/Xbox controller + PC to Xbox controller USB adapter cable + Xplorer360.

A new or used memory card off eBay or wherever will set you back no more than a USB flash drive and is guaranteed to work and the USB Xbox controller adapter cable costs peanuts.
