hi. don't know if this has been answered before, but i can't find anything by searching. sorry if it's a long one...

i have softmodded a few xboxs in the past, and set xbmc as the dash, and everything went smoothly, but it's been a while, and i have just tried to do this again and seem to have botched it.

the actual softmod went fine, using the splinter cell exploit, and then i booted up an old disc labelled "AID 4.01" and attempted to install xbmc as the dash. something went wrong and i just ended up back at the unleashx dash with an error message about a config file being damaged or corrupted.

i (foolishly) carried on trying out some other options on the AID disc, and eventually ended up with error 21 being displayed when the xbox was turned on. games and the AID disc would still boot.

i decided to boot splinter cell and choose xbox live, hoping that my ms dash would be restored, but it actually seems to have made things much worse. now when the xbox is turned on it goes straight into some kind of broken version of the xbox live manager. i have the menu but none of the items can be selected. and i don't have a live account. splinter cell will still boot, but my AID disc won't, so i no longer have ftp access.

somewhere along the line, messing with the AID disc i appear to have lost the splinter cell save from the xbox hd, so i can't run the exploit again. where do i go from here? thanks in advance!

1. Do you have eeprom backup on PC and/or the xbox?
2. Does booting with eject button make any difference in the xbox's behavior?
3. You verified that while cold-booting with SC disc, the SC save cannot be found?

thanks for the reply. to answer your questions;

1. yeah i have the eeprom backed up on my pc. but not sure if it's still on the xbox hd at this point.

2. booting with eject makes no difference.

3. yes i've loaded splinter cell, to attempt to exploit again, but it finds no saves to load.

Since you have the eeprom on the PC you can use it and Xboxhdm to unlock the drive. From there you can use Xboxhdm or Xplorer360 to copy the exploit to the HD.

Use Krazie's Ndure 1.1.1 and copy it to the Tdata or Udata folder, I can't remember off the top of my head. It will tell you which one.

BTW, the exploit is Krazie's, PBL, etc. The game used is Splinter Cell. It makes a big difference in solving problems. There are multiple exploits for each game. Knowing the name of the exploit can help solve problems faster or easier.

You should use Retail C files. You can copy Krazie's Ndure 1.1.1 to the E drive while you are at it and then you can just run the softmod without having to copy it over later.

all is now fine. the only issue i had was xboxhdm giving a files not found error when trying to build the c drive. so i burned another disc, and used the files from all\c\ and it worked. thanks for the advice.
