Xbox Os Crashed!
« on: February 02, 2020, 05:12:00 PM »

I couldn't download the TH3C version of XBMC from http://t3ch.yi.se/ because the links weren't working on the website.

I successfully installed another version I found on the web (XBMC_Xbox_29504.zip) to my XBOX 1.1, following instructions here:

http://www.productwiki.com/microsoft-xbox/...30-minutes.html

Finding the t3ch site working again, I decided to upgrade to: XBMC-9.04.1-FIXED-BABYLON-T3CH, the readme said:

"Upgrade: Backup the >>XBMC/UserData<< folder. Transfer >>whole<< XBMC folder to Xbox. Overwrite >>UserData<< folder with your backed up copy.Upgrade: Backup the >>XBMC/UserData<< folder. Transfer >>whole<< XBMC folder to Xbox. Overwrite >>UserData<< folder with your backed up copy"

I ftp'd into the XBOX & copied the files across, when prompted to overwrite I said yes. Halfway through, the transfer froze & I lost ftp connection to the XBOX. I can still play games but when I boot without a game disk, the XBOX welcome screen comes up then freezes on the XBMC splash screen & I can go no further.

The XBOX OS files are backed up on my PC, according to advice on the web I can rebuild the XBOX hard drive by installing Slayers Evox Auto Installer 2.6, from a CD. Do I have to take that step or is there another option? If I have to use Slayers Evox, is 2.6 the right version or do I install a more recent one? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

You're in the wrong section - your probem has nothing to do with Gamesave Exploits. Slayer's 2.7 is the latest, but Slayer's 2.6 will work fine for what you want. You don't install Slayer's, you use it to install things, or in your case you use it to give you FTP access. (FYI, if your Xbox is softmodded that's all you should ever use Slayer's for - it's designed for chipped / flashed Xboxes.)

Boot with Slayer's, FTP to your Xbox, transfer XBMC across, remove the Slayers disc, reboot.

I somehow doubt that anyone told you to post in the gamsave exploit section.....

Windows can't read xiso discs, hence they show up as zero size. Most Xbox DVD drives can't read DVD-RW, which is why your Xbox won't boot the discs. You don't need to install a new dashboard - just burn Slayers or AID, or better still Frosty's Rescue disc, to DVD-R at 4x or slower, using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0.

That "advice" you followed has nothing to do with FTP failing mid-transfer, but I can't fault you for searching, and for lateral thinking, and least you got it fixed.  smile.gif

AID can take a long time to boot up, so try leaving it for a few minutes. You don't install AID, you use AID to install apps and flash the BIOS etc. FYI, AID can destroy a softmod if used incorrectly on some softmods, so be careful which options you choose.

Krayzie's NDURE 1.1.1 is now a relatively old softmod, but it's still the best, and it still contains all of the newest features required in a softmod. The comment you read is basically incorrect, or at the least very misleading. If you are softmodding another Xbox with a gamesave, Krayzie is the way to go, every time.
