so minor update, its a code 13, did i get a DOA hard drive?

thats possible. does the hard drive make any noise
try the drive in your pc and see if you can format it and copy a file to it

so i put it into the computer, everything works fine, i formatted it so it would get recognised, and everything worked out fine...

i tried the xboxhdm again, and same result.

maybe it's not copying the files correctly, ( even though there are no error messages)

is there another program i should try??

Use a fresh set of msdash files from Slayer's or CASH disc.

Did you double check the connections for the HD? I usually place the new drive on top of the DVD drive to make it easier to connect everything. Maybe try a new IDE cable.
