Thank you for any and all help provided,

I soft modded using the SC gamesave exploit, now I need to know where and I can FTP from? "what menu"?

"SC Gamesave exploit" doesn't help at all. What matters is which softmod installer you used - they all use the SC gamesave exploit.

Not that it affects ftp at all. Once your Xbox is modded and connected to your network, you FTP from your PC, not from a menu on your Xbox. Your modded dash runs an ftp server in the background all the time.

yes you are right, I installed the Evox X but I couldn't figuer out how to FTP, I turned off static IP but the IP didn't change, I was able to FTP by doing the game exploit there I turned off the static IP and went with DHCP and then I was able to FTP. What did I do wrong?

The correct "process" to using FTP to access your system's hard drive was new to me also. I had never done a "mod" like this before on a system that was this dependent on network. I mean, on Wii there is always wifi, but you could do without it, and on ps2, well, you just threw stuff on a flash drive and booted your little "mod" off of a memory card.

Anyway, you didn't come here to learn about the history of modification. What you do is you find the IP address on the network of your box, then open My Computer, or Windows Explorer (same thing, slightly different "shell"), and type it in like this (but replace the words "ip address" with your box's IP address):

ftp://"ip address"

It will most likely ask you for a username and password. Unless you otherwise adjusted it, it will NOT be anonymous. The default for many xBox Dashboards is "xbox" in lowercase letters and numerals for both the username and the password. From here, you're in. Each "lettered folder" represents a drive letter on the system (should seem familiar to your Windows xp or 7 desktop/my computer area).

You can use Windows Explorer, but it isn't very good - it doesn't always close FTP sessions gracefully, and can leave you in a position where the Xbox thinks that you still have an FTP session running, and refuses to accept any further connections until you reset the Xbox FTP server, or reboot the Xbox. Filezilla is a free open source FTP client, and is much better behaved than Windows Explorer.

Are you saying that you can only FTP while you are running the gamesave exploit, or is your problem now fixed?

Can you ping the Xbox? If you can't ping the Xbox then the problem is with basic network connectivity. What are the IP addresses of your PC and your Xbox?

Yeah, do what Mr. Heimdoll said, and then make sure that your ethernet cable is plugged in all the way and that the little light lights up. Make sure you are using an ethernet cable, not a phone cable, and make sure your dashboard has FTP capability that does not require manual activation of FTP. Remember that passwords are case sensitive on FTP and make sure that you did not forget your username or password.

I finally got it to work, I messed up the soft modd twice and on the second time I installed it, the FTP work right from the dash?

? don't know why or how but it works. Thank you all for the help....?

He installed it from his xBox I think. Isn't that the only place you can mod it from without a modchip?
