Krayzie 1.1.1 is the softmod package you need. Get it from the usual places (then apply the small 1.1 to 1.1.1 update manually), or from HeXEN / CASH with the updates already applied. If your dash version is below 5960 you'll also need a recent live-enabled game (Halo 2 or later) to update the dash to version 5960 before you start.
If you are using a flash drive then you'll need an Xbox to USB adapter - you can make one from a controller lead and a USB lead, or you can
buy one. Plug the adapter and flash drive into your Xbox, and if the Xbox likes your flash drive (not guaranteed - it doesn't like all of them) it will automatically format it. Copy an existing gamesave to the flash drive, then back again, just to confirm that the flash drive is working.
To get the Krayzie gamesave onto your flash drive then onto your Xbox you have three basic methods:
- If you have an existing modded Xbox then FTP the gamesave to that Xbox and use your modded dash to copy the gamesave to your memory card.
- Use Xplorer360 beta6 on your PC to copy the gamesave to your memory card (the numbered folders go in the root of the memory card - see pictures
here.)
- Use Action Replay on your PC (a bit of a fiddle with USB sticks - Xplorer360 is far easier)
If your dash is below 5960, load and run your live-enabled game - Halo 2 and Doom 3 definitely work (I've used them both), and Pro Evolution Soccer 4, Need For Speed Most Wanted, and Goldeneye Rogue Agent should work (Live enabled, 2004 or later). You just go through the motions of connecting to live, the first thing the game does is update the dash, and once it's done updating you can eject the game and reboot the Xbox.
Then use the MS Dash to copy the Krayzie gamesave from your flash drive onto your Xbox, load your exploitable game, and launch the gamesave. Backup the eeprom, then select Basic Install - UnleashX dashboard. There are some pictures showing the gamesave loading in
this tutorial.
