the cap that usually explodes is the one with an odd ball size and it controls the system clock which you can bypass with some kinds of bios. I got a buzz so my size might be wrong but I will venture to say it is 1 farad.

The acid could have damaged the trace and you usually can see that the trace is corroded visually. Did you ring it with a meter and get the correct resistance?

If definitely corroded the traces, you could see it with plain eyes.  I could have just replaced it with a 1 farad cap, but I just said screw it, and got a new mb from ebay for 29 bucks.  I know a capacitor was cheaper, but I felt it was easier this way.

Funny thing is though that this cap was not affecting the time, the time was always accurate, but as you said, my modded dash Unleash x may have kept time and I would never have noticed it.  The only thing I noticed is that the xbox would never turn off, meaning it would turn off, then turn itself back on then eject the dvd drive.

Unfortunately I didnt put the meter to it, just too damn lazy.......

Was not in the mood to solder and go to radio shack for a new cap....I am a lazy computer nerd.

Thanks for your help.
