My xbox is already softmodded and boots as default to XBMC.  How can I update the copy of evox on there then set it as the default with the aid 4.50 without loosing any data?

Depends which softmod you used - different softmods put the dashboard in different places.

It was done with an older version of SID...

Does that make sense.  I see a folder there with that name and the backup folders are in e:backup/ms.

Different versions of SID put the dash in different places, and some give you a choice. The most common seems to be E:\evoxdash.xbe. You need to work out where your dash is, and replace the xbe with the latest version of evoxdash.xbe (although I'd use UnleashX rather than Evox, as it has more features - like a file manager).

Well I know for sure right now it is loading XBMC from the e drive because I updated that and it changed it.  I want to get away from XBMC because I dont like the way it works now with all that add source crap.  So if XBMC is loading from the e:drive, is it safe to say that unleashx and evox are there as well?

Also, how does the system know which partition to boot off of?  Meaning how do I change the default so that Unleashx or Evox would load first?

Thanks for your help, I mod 360's all the time, but I decided to update my old XBOX1 and learn how to mod the XBOX1's and I am having trouble understanding how everything sort of interconnects.  The directions in AID are kind of vague and dont really give an idea how everything intermingles from boot to dashboard on screen....

Did you get my PM?

The softmod author decided which partition and filename to boot from when he/she made the softmod, and you can't change it - that's why you have to know which softmod it is, or work out for yourself which partition/filename the softmod looks for as its first dash. Later versions of SID use E:\evoxdash.xbe. To replace the dash you replace evoxdash.xbe with your preferred dash, which you have to rename evoxdash.xbe. You also have to put the config file (config.xml for UnleashX, evox.ini for evox) in the same place i.e. the root of the e partition. But let me stress again, different versions of SID can put the dash in different places, so you need to do a bit of detective work before you start. The fact that XBMC is on E isn't necessarily an indication of where the Xbox is booting its dash from - it could be set up with the dash on C, but with the XBMC shortcut as the dash (which then loads XBMC from E).

Whatever you do, don't touch ANYTHING on the C partition until you are certain that you know what you are doing, because it's files on the C partition that trigger the softmod.

And don't use AID - it's designed primarily for chipped Xboxes. I suspect that it might work if your softmod is SID 5.1, but equally it might fail spectacularly for older versions.

Thank you very much.  It looks like all the dashboards were all installed on e, so I updated the unleashx dashboard which I decided to use and now it works perfectly.  He must have installed all the apps/dashboards to e and all the emulators/games to f and g.

Thank you for all your help, I am one step closer to understanding how all this works.

Much more complicated than the  360....and actually entirely different but....just had to say that.

Sorry about the pm, did not check the scene in a couple of days.
