Evox Showing Just Launch Disc And System Settings
« on: March 09, 2009, 09:26:00 PM »

Okay guys, I have messed things up again...

I had turned my xbox back to stock + Ndure 1.1.1 with the use of CASH, and then installed Ndure (which took a while, since I've using a Sagestar VGA cable, and the installer screen for Ndure was just blue); and I had my softmod working for a while (well, the only dashboard that works is EvoX); but then I wanted to try Frosty's VGA dual boot thing.  So I downloaded his Rescue disc and the VGA softmod, burnt the Rescue disc, and popped it into my xbox.

Following the directions of the VGA dual boot softmod, I was suppose to delete all of the files inside of the C and E drives.  I decided to start on E first, since it seemed safer anyways.  Well, I couldn't delete all the stuff off of the drive; the UDATA and TDATA folder stayed, along with a folder with the Turkish language file for Avalanche.  I was able to delete the language file, but I couldn't delete the two other folders, so I decided to stop my attempt to install Frosty's softmod.

Upon booting back to my dashboard, the only two options now are Launch Disc, and System Settings.  So, I tried doing dash installs with CASH; but even though EvoX is reinstalled, two those options are the only things that pop up.  I have read the manual for cash on how to fully uninstall Ndure (with the Splinter Cell stuff in tact, since I have lost my Action Replay hub).  However, the problem is, when I get to the Blackdoor uninstall thing with the kernals and all, it is completely Blue.  So the VGA problem is hindering me (There are NO tv's in the house with the standard composite plugs...  Long story.)  So my question is:

What can I do?
Networking no longer seems to work for some reason, I had it working till I restarted a few times.
If anybody else uses CASH, maybe you can run me through the screens for the backdoor stuff? (There are no pictures of the backdoor process in the CASH manual).

I will continue to try to get FTP working again in the meantime.

Thanks in advance; I should really stop trying things, haha.  I think Krayzie's Extra's has a VGA mode thing, but once I past the passcode thing and into the Extras thing, the menu where all the extras shows up is all BLUE too!

Right now, I just want Unleashed as my dash (without it being blue) and XBMC not to be blue too.
And by blue, I mean nothing is showing up, not that the hue is blue.

Stop before you do any more damage!! At least stopping where you did and not deleting the C partition has saved you from total catastrophe.

Are you saying that with the sagestar VGA adapter you get a completely blue screen all the time, or just in some menus? And if this is the adapter you're using you don't need a VGA BIOS at all.........

Here's what I suggest you do. Cold boot with Frosty's Rescue Disc (that should give you FTP access), DON'T DELETE ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY NOT ON THE C PARTITION, use FTP to create a folder E:\Dashboard\, then inside that folder put a full copy of the UnleashX dash with the xbe renamed to default.xbe. When you reboot you will have UnleashX as your dash.

Then, before you do anything else, confirm that you are using the Sagestar adapter I linked to earlier, and describe what you are trying to achieve....... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Do you have any of the exploitable games? If E:\udata is intact, the gamesave will also give you ftp access.

Your problem sounds like a corrupted evox.ini... Either Frosty's rescue disc or the exploited gamesave will allow you to peep at the evox.ini with ftp.

It's the Rescue dash - Krayzie boots it if it can't find a dash on E. It has a fixed IP address (192.168.0.200) and only "Launch Disc" and "System Settings" in the menu.

Yes, I am using that adapter; I'm getting blue screen on all the dashboards except for EvoX; and I get it with some apps, such as Krayzie's Extras and XBMC (which I would love to have as a dash).

Before I tried CASH, I had UnleashX working with the adapter cable (Well, it was installed with SID).

When I get some time (Homework is killer!), I'll do the dashboard thing and check on the .ini file.  The thing is, I've used CASH to reinstall EvoX as a dash + apps, and I remember seeing everything there (don't remember if I saw a dashboard folder, though).

OK. So install the dashboard as I suggested and you'll get your dashboard back. If Evox works then install Evox 3935 as the dash temporarily, instead of UnleashX.

And banish from your mind any thoughts about a VGA softmod, because with that adapter you simply don't need it - the adapter converts the Xbox video output to VGA for you - although it clearly isn't working very well! I'd guess that the problem is that the adapter can cope with 480i but not 480p, or that you've enabled 720p and the adapter can't cope with it.

Get the dash working, then boot with Frosty's, go to the MS Dash (C:\xb0xdash.xbe) and disable the high resolution modes - see if that allows you to run UnleashX and XBMC.

Thanks a bunch Heimdall!  My dash works again and magically, all of the things that were blue screening works now.  You rock (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
