Hi I fixed an xbox for a friend (the laser had falen out lol). Then I had the bright idea to put xbmc on it. I tried it on my own chipped box first to make sure it would work and it did, I just ftp'd the file's over and changed their names on c. I must have done something wrong on the softmoded box cos all I get now is E13 or 14 and no dash
  I been doing some reading and it seems my best bet is to hotswap. I got the mhackxbox files but the tut says to use the secondery ide cable in the pc and I only have one. My motherboard is asrock aliveNF6G-dvi I also have another one on my via6421. My hard drives both work from the on board sata, does that make a difference?

Use xplorer360 and hotswap to fix the problem, partition 3 is C, partition 4 is E.

Yeah thanks but i'm still wondering about the ide issues  Do I need to use a different pc to do it, as mine only has one ide cable.

xplorer360 will work with the single IDE as it runs from Windows XP/Vista. So xbox hdd hotswap connect to that IDE.

Thank's I will try it later. It's just a lot of people on the tutorial thread broke their xboxes by using the wrong IDE cable. It clearly says repeatedly "Do not use the primary IDE cable" in fact I think i'l try using another pc just to be sure
