Okay my Xbox is a version 1.6 I believe. It has a samsung DVD drive and I was successful in replacing the stock harddrive with my own seagate 200GB harddrive. I downloaded what I believe is "Softmod Installer Deluxe 2.0", and I am a bit confused as to what I should do now.

What I really want to do is clean the harddrive completely and have it work as it did before I modded it, then start from scratch and remod it. I literally have no idea what the best softmod/bios/whatever is the best or latest, and I would really like some advice on what is the best solution for an Xbox version 1.6.

I also want to remove the DVD drive completely to allow more space inside my newer casing, but I heard that you cannot do this when softmodding. So any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.


And btw, I've done alot of research up until this point, and most of the tutorials/FAQs were written by somebody who expects the reader to already know everything about softmodding.

SID comes with gamesaves in the .zip. Just transfer them to your Xbox and boot the game you have(Mech, 007, + SC). After that make a backup of your original C and Mod. Get SID from xbins, it s the latest of SID there.

You need a modchip to take out the DVD drive and still have the Xbox boot.

I don't think I was very clear the first time I said this. I already softmodded my Xbox, what I want to do now is clear it completely and start from scratch with a whole new launcher. Is this possible?

And about the DVD Drive, which is the cheapest and safest (least likely to ruin the xbox) solution for this?

i used SID4.5 to do mine and it comes with an option to "undo" softmod.
I understand your original xbox HDD has been softmodded, and now you have a new(?) 200Gb HD you want in it? or is the 200 already in it and you just wanna wipe it and restart?

In either situation I recommend XboxHDMaker1.9. Make sure you backup your Eeprom to your PC. You WILL need it!!!! If you dont have it backed-up........your not ready to start this.

Haha, I know. I used that actual guide to make my 200GB harddrive. My stock harddrive was accidentally bricked somehow... but that isn't important now. I deleted the save files for the SID and for some reason I can't get back to the install dash(Obviously stupid, no?).

Oh and yes, I just wanted to wipe and restart. I'll try doing this right now, thanks.

if you take apart the drive and keep the pcb that the ide cable and power plug into and have just that pcb plugged in you get the closest youlll get to no dvd on a softmod

Alright well I was successful in wiping my harddrive clean and returning it to stock. I ended up using a program called Cash v1.1. As for the DVD drive, somebody in this same subforum is finding a solution for this, so I plan to use that.
