does it even make an eeprom.bin. I never used that stuff but you might have to do it manually. You can use evox to do a backup.

Hi,

google on the net for xman954. He created some tools, and one of them is an eeprom reader program.

make sure that your softmod is not enabling a virtual eeprom. Turn it off before you backup the eeprom.

Once you have the eeprom.bin file, check it's contents with the Liveinfo beta 3 program. (That's a windows program.) Your xbox serial number is in the eeprom.bin file.

regards.

thanks obcd, you seem to be the go-to-guy for my troubles for you shed some light at the end of the tunnel.  one question on your reply:

"make sure that your softmod is not enabling a virtual eeprom. Turn it off before you backup the eeprom."

how do I make sure of that/turn it off?  and once I locate and ftp my eeprom.bin and my c: and e: to my pc I can run the "make-win-iso" batch file to create the cd to install my bigger harddrive, correct?

Also look in other places for the eeprom.bin file. Evox may not write it to the folder you are looking in. It may be in the E:\dashboard file.

You could always get CASH ver 1.1 to upgrade the softmod to Krazie's Ndure. It will back up the eeprom and re-install the softmod for you. I have used it quite a lot and love it.

yup if you use evox to backup the eeprom file is in a backup folder where evox is located also. Most installers use e:\dashboard for that.
If you cannot use evox to make a backup then don't bother using the eeprom dump app from xman. It involves editing/assembling asm files and may be too complicated if you can't even use evox to make a backup.
