if you have the eeprom.bin from that xbox
you can use your modded xbox to fix the HDD

if not keep trying to hotswap at different intervals

Try getting Auto installer deluxe and starting the xbox with the disc in the drive. Also make sure you set the correct (or close to the correct) time and date.
