New Hard Drive Install.
« on: January 27, 2008, 12:43:00 AM »

I'm a little confused with my softmod. I was trying to install a larger drive onto my xbox, so I used XboxHDM. I followed it through everything. I made the bootable CD built a new harddrive from scratch with my 250GB WD. I locked it with a backup of the eeprom from the xbox, and tried to boot it up. Got an error 6. Was a little confused, so I unlocked it with XboxHDM, put it back in the Xbox and enabled the mod chip, booted it up, loaded up a game save exploit to get FTP access. I then returned the drives back to stock and put config magic on the drive and locked it, turned off the xbox and booted it back up and it went straight to MS dash. What am I doing wrong here?

How am I suppose to do that if I get the Error 6? I know I could just lock it with Config Magic and then do the exploit, but I want to know how to do it fully, so I can install newer hard drives without the use of a mod chip, since I keep running into 1.6's, and I can't rebuild the LPCs very good.

You need to re-softmod an Xbox after you install a larger HDD onto it.

Not true. If you have a soft modded Xbox and use Xboxhdm correctly, the new HD will perform just as the old one did. Make sure you are giving correct advice.
