hey uall ok this is what happened i softmodded the xbox then i started using AID 4.1 to install several programs and a new dash (xbmc) after finishing i restarted the xbox and it never it just hanged at the aid logo (box with x in it) so i loaded the auto installer again and and i went into the file explorer and i renamed the xbe files i just left the evodash one thinking that it would load into the xbmc dash so when i rebooted the xbox now it just gives me the error 13 and 14 iv treid loading the auto installer again 3.0 and 4.1 no luck tried with both dvd and cd-rw i wanted to try to ftp to the xbox but since it doesnt boot into anything i cant get the ip it does how ever boot into a game if i put in the game disk but as soon as i eject it it goes back to the error screen now i would have used xbox hdm but since i do not have a back up of my eeprom or the xbox files on my pc i cant and i tried the hotswap method with my pc and windows detects the hdd but it does not come out on mycomputer so i tried to use fatxbox explorer,hdd driver, and xplorer but all failed i think it is because i am using vista or maybe my hdd isnt getting unlocked since it goes into the error screen right away i dont know... so if anyone could help me out i really dont want to have to throw away the xbox...

i just tried hot swaping the bad hdd to a soft modded xbox and try to open it through its file explorer but failed the xbox just freezes... so at this point i am completely out of ideas the only thing i could think of is using the hdd tools on a win xp computer but the only computer that i have that has xp is a laptop and i could connect the hdd using a device i have to connect any hdd to a usb port but i am not sure if those programs would work with that device....please any help would be greatly apreciated thanks

alright i tried connecting to the good xbox through ftp while swaping the bad hdd to it (bad hdd instead of the dvd drive) but no luck ftp did not detect the hdd and the file explorer from the auto installer didnt either so right now i dont know what to do the suns about to come out and i cant think right now so im gonna go to sleep hopefully by the time i wake up some one will very nicely post the solution to my problem see uall in a few hrs and thanks again for your time

How exactly did you softmod the thing? Via a save game exploit, or a hotswap?

If you can still boot game discs and load the save game exploit, BACKUP YOUR EEPROM! The same exploit should allow FTP access.

Try not to let the X-Box go without power for too long, or it'll switch to error 16 (and won't boot game discs).

fisrt thanks for your reply bro and 2nd i did it via game save (007) and yes i can boot games as of last night im gonna try what you said right now but the reason i did not try that was cus i thought the hdd got formated when you preformed a softmod....

Start off by getting a copy of that EEPROM transferred to your PC (if you haven't done so already). Seriously, it could save you a lot of trouble if something goes wrong in the future. If you're not sure how to rip the EEPROM to your console's HDD, look up ConfigMagic.

You'll need to work out which file your X-Box is using as it's dash (no, it's not "xboxdash.xbe"). Often this is "evoxdash.xbe" but it could be something else.

Once you've worked that much out, hopefully this tutorial should take you the rest of the way.
