No, thats not it...

In this:
CODE
ConfigSector "backupdisk.bin"
Format g:
}
remove the last }

Forgot to add that before...

If you add the configsector it will format all the drive and not just G even though thats all you have there, or atleast it has done on every single xbox i've tried it on.

I did some further research on this and found it's not necessary to have the configsector line, so I will remove it.  As to formatting the entire disk, I just did some thorough testing on my own Xbox and found this to be fasle.

Thanks Morglum for pointing this out though.  I made changed to the original code.

Ive just tested again, with G using configsector it seems to be fine, however ive just tried it a few times now with F, and each time it wipes everything, yet if the configsector line is removed its fine  blink.gif

If no one else gets this then i have no idea why it only happens with me and the xboxs i setup  sad.gif

Thanks for being a guini pig...

People shouldn't have to deal with this since I just took out the line, as it's not necessary.  Wipes entire drive for you and doesn't for me, that's interesting.  If anyone else has a spare Xbox laying around I'd be interested in seing other results.

My backupdisk.bin was placed both under the root of C and also in C:\BACKUP\ (created by Evox).

hey coleraine

if youre still watching this thread, check your jumper settings. i sounds to me like you have it set for a 32gb clip.

set it to cable select and reformat, should give you the rest of your space

I just did this....

Section "Install Menu"
   {
         Item "Install G Drive",@210
         Item "Reboot",ID_Quick_Reboot
         Item "Power Off",ID_Power_Off
   }

[Action_10]
Info "Format G"
Warning "This will format your G drive"
Warning "Have a Backup!"
Progress "Formatting drive"

Format g:

It erased my F drive. No biggie....got a backup. But I would like to learn what went wrong.

Here is how the adventure went down....
Took my 120gig drive and made a ghost backup onto a 200gig drive. Then added this to my Evox 1_8_3935 dash. The bios I am running is the 4983.67 loaded up on bank 2 of me new Xecuter Pro. Well low and behold....everything on F was erased. It did add G though...haha.
Any info appreciated.

This is a no brainer. Of course it works. Anyone who's edited evox.ini to ONLY flash f: for the 10GB stock HDD's would know that this is how you format G with the new bios.

"No brainer" or not, this is JUST what was needed after the tutorial by MuPHuG.  Between the 2, it sees ALL of my new Maxtor 250GB drive [lockable].

THANKS!!

Plus, I learned by inspection how to add action "hooks".  Always a good thing, that.

Cheers!

N

PS:  It ought to be possible to roll the MuPHuG tutorial into the evox.ini file and come out with a COMPLETE "power boot" cd that would boot to evox, format the drives, lock the disk, eject the DVD (I'm assuming there's a soft-eject command), and then reboot ... shouldn't it?  Maybe I'll check into it and let you guys know.  wink.gif
