Won't Boot With Network Cable Plugged In?
« on: November 27, 2007, 03:57:00 PM »

I have an odd problem. a few years ago I installed a MechAssault save exploit (I don't recall which one) on my Xbox, then put a new hard drive in it. It worked ok, but the hard drive got corrupted during the imaging process and had some files that wouldn't delete and such.

Anyway, recently I got an xbox for my kids and put Krayzie's NDURE 1.1 on it. I then used the XBox HD Maker utility to set up a new hard drive for it. It worked so well I decided to reformat my old hard drive and use the same stuff. So I put my EEPROM on a disc with the same files as my kids' xbox and reformatted the hard drive. Everything works, but now I have a weird problem. If the network cable is plugged in, the dashboard never boots. It just sits at the big green X with Microsoft under it forever. If I turn it off, remove the network cable, and turn it back on, it boots fine. If I plug the network cable in after it boots, the network works fine too. I've set my Dashboard to XBMC and it does the same thing, although it's still using the C drive imaging thing that Krayzie's NDURE installed with UnleashX.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this or how to fix it? I'd appreciate any help.

That is an odd issue. Maybe try using a different network cable.
