I have a friend of mine who dumped a softmod'ed (Krayzie's Avalaunch, I assume) XBOX into my lap.  He has begged me to fix it for him..

When trying to boot up, it immediately goes into UPDATING XBOX LIVE and then XBOX LIVE IS NOT RESPONDING.  I cannot boot up either Slayer's or any game, including MechAssault...

It's a v1.1 so (again, assuming that the TSOP is good) I can put in a DUO X2 and resurrect it that way.  But the LPC solder holes are plugged and I always have the worst luck when trying to work those..

Is there an alternative way to fix this problem without having to set up a mod chip??

hotswap and fix the files ( C:\xodash\  ernie and xbox.xtf)

EDIT:  Worked like a charm!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  Normally, I have the worst luck with HOT SWAP'ing, but this went thru flawlessly..

OK  Another XBOX cropped up with the same problem.

It's a 1.0 and, to the best of my knowledge, is a virgin...

Boots up, tries to update XBOX Live and then says, "XBOX LIVE IS NOT RESPONDING"....

Doing a hot swap doesn't seem to work this time around..  I let the XBOX boot up get to the above message and then pull the IDE cable, plug in a different XBOX (TSOP Mod'ed) and power up the new XBOX... It boots thru the custome BIOS and then gives me an ERROR CODE 06.  Which indicates to me that the HD is not getting unlocked...

Any ideas???

Are you able to boot from a game, and if so do you have one of the later ones such as halo 2 which will automatically update the dash for you.
