whats up everyone. so i have an 80gig hdd that was in a softmodded xbox. its locked and i have no eeprom or passkey or anything of the sorts. im trying to use it for a different softmodded xbox. im trying to do this with xboxhdm 1.9. so i ftp'd to the softmodded xbox, copied the eeprom, e and c folders to the xboxhdm, made the linux iso and my pc boots up just fine to it.

heres the problem.. i get an error saying no hdd found on primary ide. i cannot do anything because this damn hdd is locked or something. fdisk and other disk formatting apps ive tried cant even access it.

any suggestions? thanks.

get the eeprom.bin from the xbox it was locked with
file 13 the HDD (it's only a 80GB so it's worth paying to unlock it)

thanks for the reply. i have no way of getting the eeprom. and what is file 13? paying? any other suggestions?

file 13 = trash can
there are programs to unlock HDD's that will unlock and wipe the data for around $30.00 US
post the HDD manufacturer and model # maybe some can give you more info...

western digital wd800bb-00jhc0.  yeah..i just need to beable to wipe this baby clean. i cant do a darn thing till then. my pc bios reads it fine. just nothing else can read it or access it or anything.

whats the name of those programs you were talking about?

Since you have Xboxhdm, boot into it and go into option 4. Type in Atapwd and use the master password of XBOXSCENE or TEAMASSEMBLY to unlock the drive.

thanks for the replies. xman--- i tried out that app. seems like itd work, but it requires me to have the locked hdd set as master, on its own ide cable. since one ide is used for my hdd with windows on it, and the other is used for my dvd rw, i  dont see how im supposed to use that program. i disconnected my dvd rw drive, and hooked up the locked hdd to that ide, but windows wouldnt start.

1hotjob.. the problem is that xboxhdm isnt recognizing the hd. in my systems bios, it sees the hd. but in xboxhdm, it says no drive found. that is for option 3. as far as option 4 goes, it kept giving me an error saying InitDiskError reading partition table drive 00 sector 0. that kept repeating slowly.

i really hope theres a way to just erase this drive! please keep those suggestions comming

can you set it to none
and let xboxHDM find and initialize it

there are at least 5 ways to lock a HDD

DOS tools, no master password
evox, no master password
modchip bios tools, no master password
xboxHDM,  master password is XBOXSCENE
configmagic,  master password is TEAMASSEMBLY

Try leaving the IDE cable off the HD until you get to the main Xboxhdm screen. Then plug in the IDE cable and make your selection.

alright guys. thanks again for your suggestions.

i was able to unlock the hdd! then i used this guide

i know i did everything correctly. i ftp'd to my softmodded xbox, ftp'd the contents of the C and E directories to the C and E folders in xboxhdm. i ftp'd the eeprom.bin to the eeprom folder in xboxhdm. made the iso.

i set the jumper on the hdd to master, booted into the linux cd, and went from there. it found the hdd, created the partitions and all that. said completed successfully. then i rebooted and chose option 3 and locked the hdd successfully.

when i put the hdd into the xbox, i got an error 13 screen. i know its a dashboard error. before i created the linux iso, i put an avalaunch default.xbe, the media folder, and avalaunch.xml into the C folder, replacing the original default.xbe.

i did this thinking itd boot to avalaunch, rather than the ms dash. was this a mistake? how can i get this hdd to work? thanks again.

it would be helpfull to know what softmod was used on the original HDD
does it use a shadowC and did you disable it before you made the backup of C:\

if you want to start fresh look at NDURE installer for PC in the xbe exploits
you will need a good copy of the MS dash files to use with the installer

i think its krazys installer with splinter cell. in E: there is a folder called shadowc. in that folder is a shadowc and eeprom.

i just found i can ftp to the hdd at the beginning of the splinter cell exploit screen.. i guess its the unleash X part. is there some easy way to fix this now that i can ftp?

update:  now the dvd drive doesnt want to stay closed! i knew it was going bad, but now its going to be so hard to finish this.

okay i got everything working!!! xman..thanks so much for the tip about Ndure. i uninstalled the softmod and started fresh with a stock xbox hdd.
turns out my friend DID have the damn eeprom.

found Ndure, used it with xboxhdm. put the eeprom in the eeprom folder, and let Ndure make the C and E folders. i unchecked the ShadowC thing too.

used xboxhdm to make the hd using my wd80gb. seemed to go fine. then i locked it. put it in my xbox and now the unleashX dash is up and im ftp'ing stuff to the F drive!!!!.

now i think i need a new dvd drive. the philips keeps making a loud noise, then ejecting the game.
