Mechassault: Emergency Linux Flickers, Cant Ping

I can't seem to search the forum, and I can't find it on google, so I thought I'd just post and hopefully someone will answer.

I have gotten as far as getting the save games onto the xbox and running Emergency Linux.  But when I do, the screen just starts flickering and nothing seems to happen.  I have read that that's normal, and to ftp to it at 192.168.0.3 so I can do the dashboard downgrade so I can install linux.  I changed my laptop's IP address to 192.168.0.10 in order to connect to the xbox, but when I ping 192.168.0.3 it says destination host unreachable.  If I change my PC address to 192.168.0.5 i can ping the pc, so I know it's not a network issue.  Has anyone had this issue and does anyone know how to fix it?  Is there any way to know if Emergency Linux is working, or what the IP address is?  Do I need a different version of the game save?  If someone knows a link to one that works for sure please send it and I'll try that.
