Softmod On Live?
« on: September 23, 2007, 04:21:00 AM »

I've noticed there is an option in UnleashX to boot up the M$ dash (if you have 5960) so i was wondering.  If you were to select this option, and then from your 5960 original dash if you go to xbox live, will you be banned?  if so, can anybody tell me the solution to softmod --> not getting banned if somebody has already found out how and i just didnt find it.  Thanks a bunch for any replies, i just wanted to get a bit cleared up on that.

EDIT:
oh crap i should have mentioned: im using UnleashX, installed from the splinter cell softmod package (NTSC) and my M$ dash was NOT 5960, so i couldn't boot to M$ dash using the UnleashX option, BUT i have Dled a 5960, just haven't ftp'd yet.  Sorry i forgot, hope these details help.

With any mod there isn't a 100% guarantee you won't get booted from Live.

The only way I know to get on Live safely is to put an ORIGINAL game in the Xbox. Turn it off. Wait 30 seconds and boot up the Xbox. With that original game, you SHOULD be able to play on LIVE safely.

If you put in a larger HD and have been on Live before with that Xbox, you will need to flash a virgin eeprom to the Xbox.

If you don't understand all that, do some reading and searching.

Again, nothing is guaranteed you won't get booted from Live.

haha yeah lol i understood
i aint THAT much of a noob
thats what i've heard.  people call it "cold-booting"
it's said that when you boot xbox with original game inside, it skips dash completely, and goes straight to game

now what i saw with this is that wouldnt the game overwrite your dash into an ms dash when it connects to live?

IIRC if you are using NDure 1.1 then no, as it protects the modded dashboard files in a file called shadowc.img. The thought process being that the game can't overwrite that which it can't see.

YMMV using softmods other than Ndure though.

You can upgrade to Krazie's Ndure 1.1.1 by using CASH Ver 1.1.

that is incorrect
the real C:\ is what a game see's when it is cold booted and thats why you fill the real C:\ up untill there is no space left
with no space to work with any dash update will fail (not that there will be any more dash updates for xbox1)
so as long as your using 5960 dash (xboxdashdata.185EAD00) it will never try to update
there are options to boot xonline or xboxdash with eject power on in the NDURE softmod
