250gb Or 160gb Harddrive To Use With Flash (best Method)

I'm flashing a friends xbox, I chipped mine, but he doesn't want to drop any money for a mod chip.  Basically can I use a harddrive up to 250gb without a chip?  Does the orginal xbox support that large of a drive.  Also I've read most of the guides (techfreaks and daddy's) just wanted to see what is the fastest to use.  Thanks guys!

You mean TSOP flash?

If you mean softmod, your not flashing anything, your altering files on the HDD.
