Attempting A Softmod To Replace Modchip That Died.
« on: January 23, 2007, 11:23:00 PM »

Recently my modchip crapped out on me so I thought I'd try a softmod on it.  I probably should have read more, but here's my plan from what I think I know so far.
I have a working chipped xbox I'll call xbox-w.  And I'll call the one that had the bad chip xbox-z.

1. Put the Hard Drive from xbox-z into xbox-w. It's an 80 gig and I no longer have the stock drive to get it running. I did however find an eeprom backup on the 80 gig, so I think I'm good.
2. Load the eeprom from xbox-z into xbox-w (configmagic) so I can lock the drive for the softmod.
3. Install the softmod on the drive using Krazie's Mech Assault Ndure Installer. I've only used it once before on a stock Xbox, so I don't know if this is proper.
4. Lock the Hard Drive (configmagic) and throw it back in xbox-z.

Alternatively I was wondering if it's possible to just do steps 1 and 2, lock the drive, then throw it right back into xbox-z and start Mech Assault there.

Thanks in advance for helping out a newb.
