There should be a tool there to let you see the IP addresses on your network. Perhaps it could help.

Can you even boot a disc with your dash gone? i dunno, i dont wanna find out through trial and error.

If you can you should be able to just use the game you used to softmod the system in the firstplace to access the mod. If not try this.

Open up a gamesave exploit and find the configuration file for the installer. (its usually the dashboard it loads when you start to install the mod. i.e. evox.ini)
Set the network parimeters.
Save it and repack it (if needed) to the save file.
Get the gamesave exploit on your memory card.
boot the game with the memory card in your controller.
Follow the instructions for loading the mod accept load from the card.

the screen you see should have the correct IP address set up.
This should give you FTP access.

If it isnt you set the IP in the wrong config file.

I dont think you can save it through the dash since its loaded up in the memory and not the HDD.

(Operating Systems\linux\distributions\ltools). There is an installer package called ltools_MA_v1.8.rc1.zip.

In that save file you will find the MXM.xml.

Leave your zip folder open.

Extract and edit this ONE file using notepad to reflect your network settings for your Xbox.

BTW dont use these settings unless your network is supposed to auto assign IP addresses

Then drag and drop the file back on to the ltools_MA_v1.8.rc1.zip window where you extracted the file. YES overwrite!

Copy the file to your memorycard (I assume you know how to do this since you modded your box in the firstplace.) Start up Mechassault and load from the card.

When you load from the card you will see the media X menu. This will now be up and running on your network.
FTP a new C: from slayer's to your xbox. Reboot without the game. If you get ANYTHING other then the original MS Dash you messed up. Start over and double check everything.

Also, a customized Dash does NOT go on the C: partition generally when you softmod.
And erasing C: doesnt remove your saves, those are on E:.

Hi there,

 I was in a similar position myself last night. With no dash and no mod you cannot FTP to the Xbox, nor can you copy the save across. Basically the three choices are:

1. Install a proper mod so you can run something like Slayers and clean the whole system.

2. Presuming you have a backup of the eeprom on your system you could connect the xbox to your PC and clean the drive / reinstall it

3. Presuming you don't have the eeprom (like me last night) you can follow this guide:

 It definately works, but feels dodgy as hell when doing it (I used the method myself last night). My one piece of advise though is to make sure you have read through to the very end of his method before starting.

 I am sure this is not the answer you were looking for, unfortunately without a working default xbox dash you can't do anything without the use of a modchip.

You can FTP without a dash as long as you can use a game that will load a modified save from the memory card.

If you can't load Mechassult form a memory card, go to your local gaming store and get a used copy of 007 Agent Under Fire for $4.99 (not platinum version) and use it. I KNOW it will work from the memory card, I've had to fix other's mistakes with it.

Incorrect.

Don't go getting a hardmod unless you absolutly have to (or want the benifits of it).

Also, if you hotswap your risk of ending up with a dead drive are extreemly high. This is a last resort option.

1. I don't know if you can load a save form mechassault off your memory card.
2. No, you can't just boot up from the memory card and then install the mod. In order to install a mod, YOU MUST HAVE THE MSDASH.
