Softmod- Xbox- Problem
« on: August 11, 2006, 06:23:00 AM »

Can you launch any discs? Try booting an original game and also try to boot a burned disc. If you can boot a burned disc you can use a boot disc to gain FTP access to the xbox. If you can launch an original then launch your exploit game (007, MA or SC), then boot the linux profile and you will bring up the softmod's backdoor and that will give you FTP access also.

What did you softmod with?

Whats the error code you get?

Seeing how you said it's not booting games it could be either
Error 07 - Hard Drive Timeout
Error 16 - Dashboard Setting (i.e. Clock Setting)

Please Post this info so we can better help you.

Did you try coldbooting the game? i.e. plutting the game in, then shutting the system off and then back on?

Error 21 is an anywhere error so it could be something is not right now the drive your dashboard is on or the hard drive could be bad though i think it's fine.

You could hotswap. See Daddy's excellent tutorial here:

That way you could still keep all of your saved files on your Xbox and not lose them by formatting your HD.

I got same thing when I 1st tried to upgrade to a 20 GB HDD.  Unlike you (I assume) I have a backup of my C and E drives on my PC, which include my EEPROM.BIN.

I used XBOXHDM 1.9 to make the bootable PC disc with the backup files of C, E and the EEPROM.BIN so I could lock/unlock the 20 GB.

If you have backup's of the original HDD with the EEPROM.BIN, you can fix it, or you can chip it.

I have got the backup files on my xbox. But because the xbox hd is locked ( i think atleast ).
So i gotta do this hot swaoing thingy?

You dont have to hot swap...IF you have the EEPROM.BIN on your PC.

Here's what I did after many tries with xboxhdm, slayers, and Krayzie's Ndure and UXE Installers.  I used a WD 20GB HDD, I had full backups of Retail C and E on my PC.  Krazie's Installers have nkpatchers that allow you to have >137GB HDD's

1. Extract XBOXHDM v1.9
2. Copy EEPROM.BIN to the Eeprom folder
3. Copy the contents of Drive C from your Retail HDD to C folder
4. Create folders CACHE, TDATA & UDATA on in E Folder, later you can FTP back your saved games after upgrade.
5. Copy the Savegames from Krazie's Ndure 1.1 or UXE 2.8 Installers to the UDATA folder
 -  i.e. 4d530017, 4541000d, 5553000c, 21585554
6. Execute make-DOS-floppy.bat to make the ISO, burn it, shutdown, swap HDD's in computer, boot with CD.
 - Since your HDD is locked you need to unlock it so it can be formated and copy the files
7. Option 3, at prompt type unlockhd -a, follow instructions to unlock, when finished type reboot
8. Option 1, type xboxhd, follow instructions to format and copy files, then when finished, ar prompt type reboot
9. Option 3, at prompt type lockhd -a, follow instructions, then type poweroff
10. swap HDD's back, stick HDD in xbox, etc...
 - Now you should have a Clean Retail like HDD with savegame installers.
11. Boot with Expliotable Game, 007 AUF, MA, SC, and load Savegame
12. Follow instructions to install the Softmod .. I installed UnleashX as Dash
 - After Softmod is fully installed and working, gain FTP access to your xbox
 - In Drive E you should see dashboard which is where UnleashX is installed
13. In FTP, delete the contents of dashboard, and copy over the contents of XBMC folder.
14. Reboot, and you should be up and running with a fresh install of XBMC!

if you dont have eeprom on your pc then hotswap it , hotswapping is quite easy had to do 6 of my mates xboxes because they are to lazy to ftp the eeprom back to the pc. You are lucky you didn't get error 07 then you would need a chip.

so would it work just while running windows swapping the drives?
