Hello,

I am new to this.

My friend moded my xbox using the Splinter cell exploit. Now I am trying to do the same for one of my friends...but I dont know how to do it. It seems that all I need to do is copy the splinter cell game save and the linux installer file onto a xbox memory card. However, the linux installer takes up 940 some blocks, but the memory card is only 501 blocks total! Any ideas on what Im doing wrong? How do I get that linux installer from my xbox to my friends?

Which memory card are you using.... is it the one that came with the Action Replay or is it the Official MS memory card? Try formatting the memory card before tranferring files onto it.... maybe it might help. Generally when performing a softmod through a gamesave it is recommended that you use the official MS xbox memory card to avoid curruption of data... but there have been those who claim they have done it with other types of memory cards.

the memory card is made by game shark. it has a total of 8 mb of memory. Im not sure what action replay is...but the package does not say anything about that. Is there different sizes of xbox cards or are they all 8 megs?

I read over your post and I think what you're trying to say is that you're trying to put the Splinter Cell saved game and the Linux installer all onto one memory card. If this is correct then I have to tell you that you can't put both onto one memory card simply because the memory card can't hold that much data on it. That's why the Splinter Cell exploit is divided into two files: the game save and the linux installer. Now, assuming you are using the Krayzie Ndure v1.1 (which is highly recommended when softmodding a xbox) it would just be easier if both your xbox and your friend's xbox are in the same house. What you want to do is copy the Splinter Cell saved game first from your xbox and then transfer it to his, and then do the same with Linux installer. I haven't tested this method so I don't know for sure if it would work or not, but I would highly recommend that you download a fresh copy of Krayzie Ndure v1.1 from xbins and transfer these files (Splinter Cell savedgame and Linux Installer) from your PC to your memory card one by one, which is the method I used. I also have no idea how GameShark works but if you can use GameShark to transfer savedgames downloaded from the internet to your memory card and then put them onto your xbox you should be fine. One last note: try to use the official xbox memory card because it has less of a chance to corrupt data stored on the memory card and you wouldn't want to mess up your friend's xbox because of that... but I guess there's an element of risk involved in softmodding all the time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Just found out that it isn't a good idea to take the softmodded files from your personal xbox and transfer them to your buddy's xbox because your xbox starts adding/modifying files after you install the softmod. Alright, so just get a fresh copy of Krayzie Ndure from xbins and do the other way I recommended to you... oh, and tell us if it worked out for you... I'd like to know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

WAR! your awesome! that was it. I just grabbed the original exploit I downloaded (im not exactly sure what it is...but its not krazys) and copied that to my moded xbox thru ftp. for some reason I had to backup my old exploit version to my computer and replace it with the original downloaded exploit... Then I couldnt copy it to the memory card through evox, so I had to reinstall my MS dash. With the MS dash installed, I could copy the original downloaded exploit to the memory card. the rest was a piece of cake. I put the memory card into my friends xbox, copied over the exploits, ran splinter cell, ftp'd into his xbox, made a copy of his HD incase of a mess up, installed evox...and he's up and running!

after that I just FTP'd back to my xbox and replaced the original exploit that I just added, with the original (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) all back to normal!
