Ok I understand the risks involved with connecting to xbox live with softmods on.  Either way I still would like to connec to xbox live without turning off my softmods.  Before you ask, no I am not trying to cheat online in game its just that my copy of MA was rented and the store I rented from went out of business last week so I cant do original linux run exploit anymore hence no on off switch for softmods.  But I still want to get back on xbox live.

Heres what ive got:
80GB HD with evox installed and original MS DASH is on the real C not the virtual.  I have full FTP functionallity.  I have games saved on my HD.  When I go to connect to live it says cables connected but cant resolve isp.  Which is probably caused by the softmod (I would assume its a failsafe) so that you cant connect and get your ass banned.  I have no hardware mods in my xbox and thats about it.  Would I need to use some form of tunneling software of course from the usual places or perhaps a different dash to get onto XBL?  Any help is appreciated.  PS Dont be afraid to get technical Im rather advanced when it comes to this sort of thing I just dont have a full comprehension of the xboxes hardware yet.

No i dont think the error when you try to connect to xbl is softmod related.  Its probably something to do with your network settings.  How is the xbox connected to the internet? Through a computer, or through a router?

no, it is the soft mods, but for some reason my brain fails to remember how to get around it...

Well if his xbox is connected thru his computer (im guessing it is) then it has to do with whether he shares his internet connection.  Go into your network settings and right click on your internet connection (not your xbox) and click properties, then go to advanced and enable internet sharing, i also enabled the second option which is something about letting the xbox controller the connection (dono if its necessary though).

if your console is softmodded, you should be able to cold-boot your xbox with the game you wanna play inside (it must be an original, no backups) that way it will boot your game's default.xbe and will continue running the original non-modified bios. If you want to use your softmod again u just eject the game or start the xbox without a game inside.

Here's a scheme of the booting process:

if default.xbe found on D:\ run it (bios dont get patched so u have clean access to XBL), if not run xboxdash.xbe which runs the hacked fonts, which run the bios loader or kernel patcher which run your homebrew dashboard (eg. UnleashX, EvoX, AvA, etc)

Of coarse, this could be a bit different for different exploits, but ANY softmoded xbox will run D:\default.xbe without patching the kernel or replacing BIOS, allowing u to connect to XBL
