Installed Bigger Hd And Now Default Boot To Ms Dash
« on: March 03, 2006, 10:59:00 AM »

just used hbhdm v1.9 to format and lock a new hd (western digital 80gb) now when i put the hd into my box it default boots to the MS dash and i cant get into my normal dash or remove the softmod etc.

i assume this has something to do with the fact that i couldnt copy the shadowc folder that was on E over to the new drive?

sorry if i posted in the wrong place or if this is covered n the faq but i couldnt find it, cheers guys

Yeah, you copied the retail C files out of the Shadow C.  You'll need to either FTP in through the gamesave, or use PBL to over-ride NKPatcher (this is done in the gamesave) manually.  Then you can gain access to the real C.

run the gamesave on you stock HDD and FTP out the C:\ and E:\

because it was never softmoded (the new HDD) and you used a gamesave from a xbox that was allready used
get a unused gamesave (the gamesave changes when you install it)

ran the gamesave and tried to ftp shadowc, it seaid it had worked so i ftpd accross to new hd, error 13.

realised i still cannot get shadowc.img off the drive.  how incredibly annoying.

should i just put the savegame exploit in the UDATA folder to try it this way??

EDIT : put the saves on my hd, loaded exploit wen to install softmod "batch process failed, the last action was: . Action: rename"

You don't need to copy the ShadowC.img file because it's in use.  Once you're in the save, you can see the real C.  Copy everything you can over.

When I upgrade drives, I always just create a stock drive, and re-install the softmod.

okay I did it this way, did the splinter cell exploit that was on the hd, ftped into the xbox, deleted the entire UDATA folder, copied in the new Krayzie saves and restarted. Installed softmod with those, worked perfectly.

ok i got it working. to do so i created a stock drive using xbhdm, to create the stock drive i removed the softmod from my orignal drive, loaded up the exploit and FTP all the C files over and used them to build the new drive with xbhdm. locked the new drive and whacked it in. if all is well it should then act like a normal stock drive. In which case you can then copy the saves over and softmod it again.

Long way round for a shortcut i think but it worked. im sure you could ftp all the saves from your stock drive aswell.
