Restoring Stock C Files To Xbox
« on: March 02, 2006, 06:39:00 AM »

I was doing something in the extras menu and my xbox froze, now it boots to error 16. As of yesterday, i could still coldboot games, but thats not working anymore, its still error 16 though. I was going to run the gamesave exploit to gain ftp access then erase the C and use a slayer disc to put stock files on the C and do the mod over again. But I cant coldboot, so am I just left with hotswapping or what?

XBHDM if you have eeprom.bin or modchip also.

Well, i don't have my eeprom saved to my computer if thats what you mean. Or do you mean taking the hdd and putting it into my computer and using xboxhdm?

without the eeprom or HDD key you won't be able to lock it, so it's pointless.

Modchip or hotswap seem like your 2 options

You don't need the eeprom with a hotswap.

So are you still stuck? Maybe you have the eeprom backed up on this drive, and can somehow extract it with some of the tools mentioned in the tools section? I see tools that describe PC FatX management, which I assume means you can plug the drive to a PC and read it using the drivers or apps mentioned? You could look in the normal backup places for slayers, ndure, what ever to find the eeprom.bin, then try xboxhdm to rebuild.

I am relatively new here, but that sounds like a good approach if you are stuck with no PC backups. Hopefully at some point in time, you at least backed up eeprom to the sbox drive with the standard mod tools.

yea thanks guys, but ive had enough myself. Ruining one computer wasnt good enough for me, oh no. I had to go ruin another tower. I bring in the tower that ive used before to hotswap without problems. i turn it on and the audio card starts smokin. so that computer is ruined. im sendin my hdd to a friend in exchange for some parts and he's fixin it.  smile.gif  dry.gif  mad.gif  biggrin.gif

No, hotswapping isnt really that dangerous, im just an idiot in one case and extremely unlucky in the other. I should stay away from towers and hdds. thanks 4 ur concern. ha a blink.gif
