actually you can. except your only problem will be that the HDD will still be unlocked. which means you'll have to do what chorizo said and grab your self a copy of xboxhdm or a similar hdd locking tool and lock your HDD with your softmodded xbox's eeprom.

you also don't need to transfer the C files from the softmodded xbox over to the new HDD. all that matters is the folders on the E drive since those are your save files.

no your chipped xbox and softmodded xbox have different eeproms. if you use configmagic to switch your chipped xbox's eeprom to your softmodded xbox's eeprom and lock the HDD it'll work though.

I was right, because I was responding to what he asked:

i was wondering if i could use the modded xbox to format a larger HD and then take all the files in the C: and E: folders in the softmodded xbox then moved them to the C: and E: in the new hard drive and replace the old hard drive with it

and NO he can't just do that which is what he asked.

aside from locking the drive with the xbox's eeprom, it work fine, why go out of the way with xboxhdm when he has the required toolz already.

I wasnt trying to be a dick about it, I was just saying,
if you have a chipped box, you dont need to go out of your way and open your pc and all that jazz.

I fully support xboxhdm, but sometimes a chipped box is so much easier.
