Req: Help In Switchin From 1 Softmod To The Other.
« on: September 04, 2005, 05:49:00 AM »

Maybe somebody can help me with this one:

A friend of mine had his Xbox softmodded recently by using this method:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=246951&st=0

It seems to be the Bert & Ernie exploit.

This works rather good, but it seems to be an old method.

Now I've got Softmod Installer Deluxe 3.0 (together with Auto Installer Deluxe v2.11) that should use a better and more stable result than the method described above.

Unfortunately I do not own one of the three exploitable games nor a memorycard, but my friend's Xbox is already accessable at this moment, and running Xbox Media Center.

Is there a way to undo this exploit and install SID without using a memorycard together with one of these three games?

In other words, can SID be executed on an already softmodded Xbox, without loading one of these savegames?

And if so, can somebody tell me exactly how to make the switch? I don't want to screw things up in his machine, that's why.

Thank you very much in advance!

Kind regards,

Arjan

Don't use SID (you could, but it's not neccessary).

go to the xbe exploit section of these boards, and download Ndure 2.1 (maybe kingroach's sig helps....)

Then create an Ndure setup (read the readme!). It'll create a folder called C and another one called E

now, FTP into your xbox, and copy the contents of the E folder onto your E drive

Delete everything on your C drive with your FTP program, and put the contents of the C folder in there (CONTENTS, not the folder itself). Do not reboot your xbox inbetween! And make sure Ernie.xtf gets transfered before xbox.xtf!

after everything has been copied over, reboot.

That's clear now, thank you.

Do you have to manually add the M$Dash after doing this, or is it included? We want to use the dualmode option (eject for M$, power for other dash).

Okay, this is really great. I used Ndure v2.1 and it worked like a charm.
Now when we start the Xbox with the ejectbutton, the led turns green and M$Dash gets started, and by using the powerbutton the led turns orange and XBMC gets started.

This is what I did:

- I started XBMC on the already softmodded Xbox and looked in System Information at the kernel version.
- On my PC I created a folder called SOFTMOD, and in there I copied the folder C (latest M$dash) from Slayers installCD (look on Slayers in "\SYSTEM\All\c".
- Next I installed Ndure v2.1, selected Full Retail and selected the kernel-related fonts,  and pointed it to install to the SOFTMOD folder mentioned above.
- Ndure prepared a complete softmodded C-folder, and created a folder named E containing a dashboard in the subfolder 'Dash'.
- Next I unpacked XBMC to a temporary folder, and edited the HOME-directory in XboxMediaCenter.xml to F:\Apps\XMBC\. I made a folder named F in the SOFTMOD-folder, next to C and E, and there I cut and pasted the folder XBMC in a folder I named Apps.
- I deleted the standard dash in the folder 'E\Dash\' and cut and pasted the two files 'default.xbe' and 'XboxMediaCenter.xml' from the F\Apps\XBMC folder in there.
- Finally I FTP'd into the Xbox, completely deleted the contents of C: in the Xbox, and put everything from my SOFTMOD-folder on the box.
- Off course, before uploading XBMC to the Xbox, I first deleted the one that was already on there, and deleted the *face008* folders from E:\TDATA and E:\UDATA.

Turned the Xbox off, switched it on, and everything worked just like we wanted it to!
