A small enuff flat head works the best, but just buy a torx bit, any auto store will carry them, its the same head for almost all older chevy inside trim.

a couple of more questions before i attempt to hot swap...

1. i dont need my eeprom to restore my harddrive right?
2. can i restore AND softmod using slayers c:\ drive files

i did read the xboxhdm faq...but there wasnt a lot of info on restoring so thats why i ask these questions [i'm not totally a noob]

You can restore, the softmod should be preformed during the hotswap, i dont suggest using slayers for softmods thou, its mainly recommended around her for obtaining a m$ dash.

hey, i had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM with my xbox (except my sister pop a breaker)

I hotswapped. I used the packege on xbins 'uxe complete' (xbox- exploits - _packages)

Copy everything from C to the C folder in XBOX HDM. Then copy the ROOT folder from the package to the E: folder in xbox hdm.

ok...well now opening the xbox has been nixed as i'm not really too keen on breaking my warrenty. is there a way i can get the saves from my memory card to my xbox hard drive with out dash access or ftp? or am i just screwed and should just open my xbox?

If you choose to spend a few bucks you can get the M$ refresher disk and let it install the M$ dash and retry with your expliot.

You are not talking about the "Test equipment bootloader utility" as shown in this thread, , are you? If so, forget about it. This CD/DVD is VERY rare and you'd probably have to pay a shitload of money to get one.

an update....i did end up hotswapping [easiest thing in the world really...dont know how ppl hash that....] used slayers blah blah. booted xbox after swaping and have the dash but i can no access my hard drive or memory card in the memory tab nor can i re=softmod my xbox...any ideas

o and is there a way that someone can upload of ftp me a c drive with the sept 2004 dash...i found that one is the one that got it working. thank you for ur help.

and yes i did try slayers and aid...but bot use the november 2004 dash and only boots to error 21

final edit-i finally got it fix somehow....i uploaded all the files from the slayer's cd except the dash and let it update with a xbl live enabled game

was able to softmod using sid 3 and current am listening to fallout boy on xbmc grinning like a kid at chrismas time. thanks to all who helpd me ou on this one. mucho love en grande
