Need Help
« on: July 19, 2005, 09:30:00 PM »

First, i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, if its not; please move it.  :)
Also tried to search, but i didn't get much luck.

Ok, the problem is my friend's soft-modded xbox got something deleted off of the hd. He was backing up a game, and when he went to delete something off, he chose the wrong thing. I'm not sure what was deleted, but now when he boots it up, it just has the red error light and won't boot up past the xbox part, and goes to the in need of service thing.

My question is, is the anything we could do to fix it, or is it just a paperweight?
Any input is apppreciated, thanks.

If its in the top-left side of the screen, its 16.

But there was this solution for error 16:

2. This is the more easy and newbie friendly strategy
-Get a friend with a modded xbox.
-Unlock his hdd with eeprom management from a slayer evo-x cd.
-Than, place his hdd in your xbox.
-Boot with your chip on.
-Now the xbox DOES find a dashboard when you boot in original mode and you can set the time in the msdashboard clock settings.
-Shut off xbox and remove your friends hdd
-PLace his hdd back in his xbox and lock it again
-Install your hdd
-(clock has been set) So boot up with slayer cd.
-Install normally whatever you wanna install
-lock hdd

Couple questions, will the modded xbox be fine with no chip, but a soft-mod? and is it possible to find my friends eeprom, even though the hd is messed up?

if you boot into an error 16, and just set the clock, then it will prolly boot into a error 13 after that, there are some files missing, and needs to be fixed.

Well we had it when it was modded, but i don't think he has the file anymore.

Is there anyway to use a boot disc type thing? or without the eeprom, is it pointless.

Do a hotswap. Not as hard as it sounds. I did my first one last night and now my friends Xbox is running great. Just follow this tutorial to the T and you'll be fine. And in the future, don't delete files unless you're sure what you're deleting  :D

Yeah, i'm gonna try the hotswap again. This was the first thing i tried, but for some reason it froze half way through it twice. I orignally modded them with the hotswap way and it went fine, so hopefully i can get it fixed with it. I'll just keep trying.

Thanks for everyones help, really appreciate it. :D
