Hotswap Problem
« on: July 18, 2005, 01:01:00 AM »

i am trying to hotswap to copy my hacked gamesave to my xbox hdd. ive got the xboxhdm bootdisk and everything else i need. i am using the information from here to guide me. i start by booting up my comp and pausing it then i turn on my xbox and when i hear the click i switch the cables but then when i get into xboxhdm it does not detect my drive. i know the actual hotswap went ok because when i cut the power to my xbox i here the click in the drive of it locking again. the only thing i could think of is that its not set as the primary master drive but i dont really know how to set or change that. by the way the ide cable in my comp that im using i pulled out of my second cd drive if that means anything. if someone could help me figure this out itd be much appreciated.

thanks for the links. those didnt come up in my searching and they were much more in depth then the ones i did read but how do you know what the pc's primary ide cable is. the only ones that i have in my comp are for my 2 dvd drives and one for the floppy which is the smaller kind. for the 2 dvds there is one cable with 2 connectors and ive tried them both while using the boot cd for xboxhdm in the other. could this be the problem?

A pc's primary channel is the one your pc's hard drive is normally hooked to, cdroms are normally hooked to the secondary channel.

on an ide ribbon there are normally 3 connections, the one to the main board, and 2 for devices, the middle one being slave, last one being master.
