Hi, i have a softmodded xbox but i am having problems connecting to live now. i used to be able to connect for a few days after getting the mod, but now it wont let me connect. i used the same method as my friend used and he is still able to connect. I installed it using action replay and splinter cell. i used the unleash x dashboard. i restored the backup of the original ms dash and the live troubleshooter said 'modified xbox errror'. anyone know how i can get past this? i know my gamertags still work because i put them on my non-modded box and they work.

You have been banned for having a modified xbox.  You need a new eeprom and possibly a new hard drive.  check the xbox live forum for exact needs, there are dozens of posts there on the same topic.
