okey.. im really new to the soft modding scene and im about to attempt it on my own.. just correct me if ím wrong with any of my steps of my method that im attempting to try..


1.) plug in the Usb stick into a friends xbox (1.6) and format it to "xbox" format.

2.) Ftp the gamesave Exploits to the usb stick (is the usb stick visble on ftp?)

3.) Remove the stick and insert it in my new unmodded 1.6(B).

4.) copy the gamesaves to my harddirive

5.) restart xbox with Mechassault game.

6.) load the gamesave. But what happens next? Does it boot the "installer" or what ?

and my other few questions..

7.) when i install the softmod.. do my orginal ms bios get reflashed? or is the xbox modded in some other way? Like only dashboard modded or something?.

8.) What should i do if i wanna use all of my 250gb harddrive on the xbox?

9.) Ive checked around in the guides but i only seem to find the onces for the people who have done this before with things that i dont understand.. A link to a really noob guide using mechassault and my equipment would be greatly appricieted!  B)

you don't FTP the saves to the usb stick. you transfer them via action replay

yes it boots to the installer after you load the save from the game

no your original bios doesn't get flashed after you install your softmod. that requires taking apart your xbox and connecting 2 bridges. an alternate bios is saved onto your hdd and a loader for example PBL (phoenix bios loader) will load that bios

use xboxhdm to build a new hard drive, lock it with your xbox's unique eeprom and put that in your xbox and softmod that. after you softmod your new hdd, format it to get all the extra space

there aren't really any noob tutorials. i guess you'll have to read around and pick up the terms people use

action replay? What is that ? Why do i need it?

Need to format HDD? Damn its fully stuffed with stuff. Bummer!

Put the usb stick in friends xbox, transfer the savegame(s) to e:\UDATA of your friends xbox. Go to the MS Dash on ur friends xbox, copy the hacked sdavegame(s) to the usb stick. Put the usb stick in your xbox, copy the savegame(s) to harddisk, load the game and load the hacked savegame, you will see a menu and the rest is self explaining.

Thx Blagmaster!! seems like i almost got i all now.. Except how to make it work with a larger drive.. is it very complicated? Is there any other methood to keep my things on my 250gb?

BTW.. How do i transfer the gamesaves between pc and xbox? doesnt ftp work on that ?

you can ftp, but you need to find it.

there is actually a custom ftp client, made specificly for gamesaves.

You need to get the Action Replay software to transfer saves to your memory card.  Your USB must also be installed as an Xbox Memory card using a hacked Action Replay driver specific to your USB stick.

1. Plug in your USB to Xbox adapter into the Xbox.
2. Plug in your USB key into the adapter.
3. The Xbox will say it is unreadable and will erase and format for use on the Xbox. (This means if you have any files on it…there gone.
4. Now you need a PC. Plug in your USB key to the PC and open USBview.exe.
5. Select your key in the list on the left and you will see it’s details on the right.
6. Find the numbers beside idVendor and idProduct. They will look something like 0x1b34. Write these numbers down. You’ll need them in a second.
7. Install the Action Replay software. Now navigate to C:\Program Files\Datel\Action Replay XBOX\Drivers if you installed in the default location.
8. Open up xbreader.ini and scroll down to the [_Devices]
9. Delete the digits beside VID_ and PID_ and replace them with the idVendor and idProduct number you wrote down.
10. Now go to your Start Menu and Control Panels and find the Hardware Manager or Device Manager whatever it’s called.
11. Select the USB Device in the Device Manager and select Update Driver. Then select the driver you just modified in C:\Program Files\Datel\Action Replay XBOX\Drivers.
12. Your USB key is now ready to be used with Action Replay!

Thx deadparrot.. thats exactly like in the tut for using a usb stick without Another modded xbox.. i read that the usb stick doesnt work on 1.6 boxes.. so i thought that i was transferring files to the stick from the computer that would cause the problems.. so i thought it might work without using the usb stick in the computer.. when u insert it in a xbox it gets formatted.. But is it usable now in the xbox ? dont really get that part..

another question.. where do i get the Software that installs the savegames to the memory card?

ok.. i think i pretty much got it.. so what i have to do is:

Fix the usb stick to make it fully working with the xbox using a pc.. following the guide Etc..

upload the gamesave to the modded xbox drive

get the action replay software ( is this an app for xbox? ) and transfer files to the usb stick..

Take the usb stick to the unmodded xbox and transfer The files to harddrive in msdash..

Load the game and the savegame and install theshit..

is it anything that ive missed?

im surprised you've never heard of action replay... they have it for gamecube and ps2 also
