Planning To Softmod My Xbox With Splinter Cell.
« on: June 23, 2005, 06:54:00 AM »

The Krayzie uxe installer will allow you to disable the mod -

You will have to load up either splinter cell - 007 - or mechassault - everytime you want to enable/disable the mod.

I do not know the full story but people have been saying that if you have xbmc installed you will be banned ? - can anyone deny/confirm this?.

I use the spliter cell exploit with Krazyies uxe - it is fantastic! - But I do not use xbox live..

xbmc will not get you banned. anfd you don't need tyo turn the mod on and off everytime you wanna go live. it might be easier to just coldboot.

I asked this before but didn't get a clear answer.  Do you have to sign up for Live before you use Krayzies installer? Or, can you sign up for Live even after the softmod is in place, assuming that you cold boot?

if you want to sign up you need to switch the softmod off or sign up before you install.

signing up for live requires going to the MS dash which is kind of hard when the xbox tries to boot the alternate dash instead. it won't work if you coldboot and then go to the MS dash either so don't try. you'll most likely end up with an error 21 so save yourself some time and do what krayzie says by turning the softmod off. smile.gif

QUOTE(giannim @ Jun 24 2005, 02:21 AM)
So even if the mod and other non-MS files are on my hard drive, I can just turn the Xbox on with a retail game in there and I will be able to use Xbox Live? That sounds risky, are you sure that works?

Alright, can another person that uses Xbox Live with a softmod on their Xbox tell me exactly what you do? I know there's been explanations in this thread but I just need a little reassurance. I'm too paranoid of getting banned.

Thanks!

Like said before, if you really don't want to get banned, don't mod... But with all that warning aside, coldbooting works pretty well, I do it all the time.  Basicly you just have to turn the xbox on with the game you want to play in the drive.  An even safer method though, at least with krazies, is to run the exploit again and use the turn on/off option to completely shut off the mod while playing live.  While the mod is switched off it is not neccessary to cold-bo0t... Hope thatclears some things up!

if possible, choose an exploit or dashboard that has the option to change the LED color of your xbox to orange or red when you're in exploited mode. blackwar's installer for example makes the LED go orange when you boot into exploited mode. if you coldboot a game, the light stays green like its suppose to. that way you can tell if you're in exploited mode or retail mode. you're basically safe from getting banned if your LED light is green (duh) tongue.gif

btw, i coldboot on a regular basis and know a bunch of other people who have softmoded xboxes who do it on a regular basis. i play with them on live everyday and none of them have had troubles

Ah, that sounds useful. In your opinion, what is the better installer, Blackwar or Krayzie's? Thanks for your advice.

Krazies is really easy, and I love it, but I've never tried Blackwars.  Haha, misterhoangdai, I've been using the LED color codes for modded/not for awhile, and it really has saved me from signing on LIVE when I'm not retail! It really is a big help.

LED is changed through whatever dashboard you choose to install.  Krazies goes through all the steps for backing up so you really dont hafta worry.  Also, it has an explanation for each option incase you are unsure... It's all pretty easy stuff, so dont worry.

to tell you the truth, they're both the same to me. the only problem i have with blackwar's is that the HDD makes a loud humming noise which is kind of annoying after a while. but krayzie's doesn't support the LED color change. if you switch to the avalaunch dashboard, you can change the LED color under the options so its a win win situation.
